Looks like the newly-overhauled K1 62005 was failed at Beattock yesterday on its way up to Fort William with the Jacobite ECS. Had to return to Carnforth for repairs as a knock had developed. Jacobite due to start running on Monday.

K4 61994 due to go to Fort William after doing the Cathedrals Explorer Kyle run, and share duties with K1.

Black Five 44871 going up for start of June to take over the afternoon trip, which is running Monday to Fridays till end of August.

Black Five 45407 taking over from K4 later in the season.

That is a great day trip to do from Fort William, although a bit too touristy sometimes. (It is interesting to listen to some passengers comments, thinking they know it all, but they don't, like saying to the entire carriage that the whole train is turned at Mallaig). Great scenery, but you have to beware of the huge seagulls there too. They mob you for your food if you are having fish and chips etc in the open air.

You're dead right about the seagulls at Mallaig.
Most of the residents know full well never to sit outside with chips.

I have been on the Jacobite a few times and the Americans especially dont half talk absolute rubbish.

K1 + ECS set off again today from Carnforth, and was early arriving at Bridge of Orchy, according to gen site. So if all's well then the entourage should have arrived in Fort William by now, ready for a season on the Road To The Isles!

The Great Marquess is now at Fort William as well, so looks like the 'dream ticket' combination of K1 and K4 will be plying the Road to the Isles for a while. (Come on, West Coast, give us a double header)

I don't think West Coast would see much benefit with a double header.

The majority of passengers are not railway enthusiasts but tourists "doing Scotland" in 3 days.
