Default Croydon tramlink improvements

Does anyone know exactly what improvements are being installed on Tramlink? There's been vague talk and closures in relation to single track sections being doubled (plus all the platform extensions for the new trams) anyone have any more information?

Doubling the current single track between Mitcham and Mitcham Jn is being worked on at the moment, and along with a new platform at Wimbledon should open for autumn I think. There's also work going on on the Elmers End branch this week, I'm not sure what exactly, though it could be for work for the new Route 4 coming soon (Elmers End-Therapia Lane-Elmers End).
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Elmers End-Arena is closed this week until Monday, Mitcham-Mitcham Jn is closed Saturday and Sunday.

I think part of the reason they chose Variotram was there wasnt as many physical alterations as they expected there would be, very few if any platform alterations just some signal repositioning and track doubling to increase capacity.

Yes to the doubling (sooner than that I believe, but don't have a specific date); but the new platform is a difficult much longer-term aspiration.

Dualling much of the (short) branch.

Where would the new platform go? Between the current Tramlink one and the edge of the station presumably? Not in the way of the "Thameslink" line?

As mentioned above, that's a long term version (my error). I'm not sure where it would be located but I suspect that it isn't impossible.

Hang on - how does that work? Is that not already Route 2? Is the network being redrawn or something?

Nope, it's in addition to provide extra capacity, it actually runs to Therapia Lane on the Wimbledon branch. All in addition to current operations, nothing's being redrawn or altered elsewhere.
