Failed bidders have 10 days to appeal, so we will know by Monday week.

Both, for different reasons. However, being at Euston would seem the best place to be for any events (then perhaps staying in the nearby Premier Inn to see the first re-liveried service in the morning).

Thank you for that. Personally, I hope he will at least give it a go (the appeal).

I think Sir Richard Branson has given up on Rail franchises, so I don't see much of a fight.

Likely, since VT get all of the revenue. Big chance of cheapo Advances for the first 10 weeks of the FWC franchise too!

Don't think there has ever been anything special on a final service, a couple of bashers, snappers and a sign in the window is normally about it before the train disappears into the night. Although WSMR was slightly different, but then that did involve job losses and all came about in a couple of days. I think the 2143 to Wolveswill be the farewell train as it is both the last departure and arrival (2350). Who know maybe the Pretendolino will be specially rostered?

Is there any likelihood of a headboard on the last service?

I doubt it, I expect Branson will want to bow out with the symbol of Virgin's tenure, the Class 390 Pendolino, not stand next to the stock on which billions was spent replacing

Perhaps (though I think it's unlikely and do 390s even have anywhere to fit a headboard?) but more to the point how is anyone supposed to know seeing as I very much doubt that anyone at Virgin has even given any thought to their last service yet.

They have! I was discussing it with a lovely young lady in the booking office at MAN tonight. She was distraught!

I stand corrected, and indeed hoisted by my own petard by generalising about the entire company!
