the 540 from Wigan to Bolton has seen several E400s on daily diagrams recently, previously I've noticed only one daily diagram. This is a good sign as this route is very popular.

Tbh Tim I think it's more a case of Bryn having received extra E400s from Manchester to replace the elderly MAN ALX300s and in typical Stagecoach fashion they get shoved out on anything lol. 600 has been almost 100% double deck on a few occasions lately

Yes, all spotted (and photographed) by myself yesterday, today's surprise is brand new 10840 also at Rock Ferry, on the 471 this afternoon http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/32931347186

HTH

I don't think that 10840 will be a permanent fixture at Rock Ferry. I assume that there will be a few short term loans from Gillmoss to both Rock Ferry and Chester until the Merseyrail upgrade is complete.

18327 MX05WHV seen driving into White Lund today. This is one of those painted green as backups for the 555 a couple of years ago. Still painted green and still carrying "Kendal and the Lakes" fleet transfers despite notionally being allocated to Morecambe. Must be one of the last Morecambe buses carrying regional fleet branding: virtually all have lost their "Lancaster" or short-lived "Lancaster & Morecambe" transfers

Now confirmed, courtesy of Steven Knight Media, is an order for 7 Volvo B5TL / Wrightbus part open toppers for the Lakes 599 service / Kendal depot. It is further reported that they will introduce a revised 'LAKE sider' branding for the route.

Great news that Stagecoach are investing in new buses for the 599 rather than chopping a few roofs off older buses.

Interesting that these new open tops are not E400MMCs.

Out of interest, is there a problem with open top E400MMCs? or lead time?

Noted that Lothian Buses have a lot of SN16 reg Volvo B5TL/Wrightbus open tops - so same bus?

Gillmoss have recently won Merseytravel contract 163/263 which runs between Huyton-Belle Vale-Halewood Caravan Park. The route uses Optare Solos and noted so far by me have been 47081 47494 47709/10 and 47753. I understand that 47326/28 have moved from Preston as well.

With all the temporary changes due to the Merseyrail renewal works X8 branded E300 27776-80 seem to be working away from Chester. I noted 27780 on route 2 Chester-Liverpool on Saturday.

I will be attending a funeral on Tuesday in Chorley, but unfortunately, the only bus service which goes pass, where funeral as be held as withdrawn by stagecoach last weekend. Does anybody know, if another operator as taken-over service 109?

The 109/109A still operate.
It was only a few tendered evening journeys (and the Sunday service) on the 109A that Stagecoach no longer operate, which according to LCC are now run by AVA Coach.

Don't see any 109/109A's yesterday in Chorley.

However, I did see Gold livery 15249 with duct tape holding the near-side corner in place on service 8A.

Hi
Just heard that Carlisle maybe loosing some of its solos which are to be replaced by 35xxx's from north east and 36xxx from Scotland seems strange when the solos replaced 36xxx which went to Yorkshire and Plymouth. Can anyone confirm that these are proposed changes or is it just speculation and rumour.
Regards

True, appears to be 6 15 plate Solo's in Dunfermline depot with at least 4 E200's from the 3619x batch as their replacements.

Carlisle depot is losing 12 Solo SRs to East Scotland and in their place are collecting a number of cast-offs from other areas. The four 60-reg E200s (36195/6/8/9) are the best of the bunch (36199 is on service 61 today), the others are Darts down to 04-reg. Darts include 34688 previously at Carlisle until replaced by 14-reg E200 and 34579 which was written off after the 2005 flood and subsequently put back on the road at Gillmoss; 34562/5/7 and 35690/1 from North East. The Solos leaving are 60-branded 47941-3, 76-branded 47954-7, rainbow-branded 47958-60 and standard livery 48001/2.
Two Carlisle city services (60 & 76) have frequency reductions next week with a reduced pvr and will in future be worked by Darts/E200s to maintain capacity so two-year old Euro6 buses are being replaced by 13-year old wrecks. Doubt there will be one on display outside the Old Town Hall like with the Solos with the MD in attendance!
