All of the buses were taken to Lawrence Hill to be fueled then brought back and parked on the main road.

Serious collision outside First's Bath depot this morning. Most services are suspended as access to the depot is not possible.

Tickets are being accepted on Wessex services.

Wessex are doing well then.

Bit strange a collision happens outside two depots on two days in a row.

@FirstBSA For the evidence of doubt Wessex has not agreed to accept any First Passes/Tickets

I just saw that. Explains why First are running Airport buses on the 4 even though Weston is covered by Wessex. It's a shame the two companies can't even get along at times like this.

EDIT: To further muddy the water, BBC Radio Bristol has stated that the MD of First has said that Wessex ARE accepting First tickets!

according to info I have heard - the decision by Wessex bus not to accept First bus tickets was made by HQ in Birmingham

Don't think "strange" is the word - makes it sound like a conspiracy theory.

It's just extremely unfortunate. They are both just off major roads and the depots only have one entrance/exit.

More importantly, two Hengrove drivers ran to assist the pedestrian in that incident, helping lift the car off the injured person. A very distressing incident for them and trust that they are ok and obtain any support they require.

Based on Twitter, at least one Wessex driver was accepting First tickets!
Seems very childish from HQ though, especially as other companies in the area are trying to help out!

BATH UPDATE

Access has been granted for us on foot to the depot.

Drivers have just been briefed and are en route to the depot to start bringing buses out.

Priority will be university services and Park and Ride due to volume of passengers, followed very shortly by all other services which will be staggered into service.

Disruption will continue for the next couple of hours whilst this takes place with normal service expected after lunchtime.

Service 5 and U6 will remain disrupted due to the road closure. Service 5 is continuing to be supported in part by a diverted service 1

Sorry for the disruption to your journeys this morning and thank you to all other operators and depots who have either allowed travel on their services or provided extra journeys.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of those involved in the accident.

I really think Wessex should help. Its bad to say but it sound like all wessex is interested in is gaining a profit.

I've seen pictures of 48,48a and 49 branded buses on the 39. Are the airport buses the A1 flyer buses or the A4 Bath Bus Company deckers?

Airport flyer buses. Things should be returning to normal now.

The Bath Chronicle has picked up on Wessex's stubborness:

Quote:
Wessex Bus has been slammed by Bath bus users after announcing the company would not accept First Bus tickets during the city's travel crisis this morning (January 12).

Rival company First Bus are currently experiencing severe cancellations and delays as 150 First buses are trapped in the Bath depot following a fatal accident on the Lower Bristol Road.

The A36 is closed in both directions, meaning the buses cannot leave the depot to carry out their service.

First Bus announced this morning that First tickets can be used on Wessex Bus services.

However, Wessex has since denied this, saying: "For the evidence of doubt Wessex has not agreed to accept any First Passes/Tickets".
