3 good documentaries from 1984 on Channel 4. losing Track. It appears to be a 10 part series but I can only find episodes 3, 5 and 10.

3 - Nationalisation http://youtu.be/goh_sbtAhcY
It covers the rail ways mainly, the back ground, legacy of it etc plus how busses, road haulage etc was also taken over.

5. Beaching report http://youtu.be/wV63tqmZ63M
It covers the background to the beeching report, some of the downfalls and the impact of it still being felt 20 years on

10. Who's loss http://youtu.be/XMCBwQGjl-4
Not watched this one yet, but it's part of the same series,

Didn't see this mentioned so apologies if it has been: the original series of 'The Tube' (~23 minute episodes, aired between 2003(?) and 2006 on sky 1 etc.) are available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/BottomD...tion/playlists

Of course, the Underground has changed considerably since then, but if you want to go back to the times of plain white 'D' stock, the days when the Victoria line was '67 stock and (most importantly) when the Met was run with A stock, then it's for you.
