Well i've successfully bought all of my tickets to and from the Severn and Solent area, and they came to just £48.30 for a return from Newcastle to Cheltenham Spa (split at York/Sheffield/Derby/Brum), helped by a fiver in Nectar Points off VTEC journeys.

So the Sunday in April is as follows, Rover moves in bold

1Y24 0952 Newcastle-York 1100 (Booked 91)
1V56 1141 York-Birmingham New Street 1409 (Booked HST)
1V06 1430 Birmingham New Street-Cheltenham Spa 1510 (170)
1V57 1526 Cheltenham Spa-Bristol Temple Meads 1611
2K36 1653 Bristol Temple Meads-Severn Beach 1728
2K37 1742 Severn Beach-Sea Mills 1759
2K38 1810 Sea Mills-Shirehampton 1814
2C87 1825 Shirehampton-Nailsea and Backwell 1918

At which point i'm unsure as i'd like to do Yatton, Worle, Weston Milton and Weston-super-Mare but there's a lot of dodgy connections at that time. The line to Bath and Chippenham is also shut that day sadly. Also on Sundays, those Severn Beach and Avonmouth line services are the last of the day

On the Monday morning i'll be taking a stroll to Montpelier before the Rover becomes valid and onwards to Redland and Clifton Down as they're so closely spaced before jumping on the train to St Andrew's Road and Avonmouth in order to clear off the line completely.

Some further developments in the past week...

I conveniently scored 153331 on a Burley Park move yesterday, clearing off my Northern 153 requirements and meaning that I now require only 7 Northern DMUs.

Also, 14 day ALR: The second coming: this August/September. Watch this space

I'm doing my fourth All Line Rover from September 13th to 19th. Looking forward to it as well.

Mine looks to be August 27th to September 8th but I'm doing a positioning move into London earlier on.

They're good tickets, albeit costing only 200 pounds short of what I'm paying to go on a week long all inclusive holiday...

19/03/17- The Voyager thing

With my red pen having seen little action recently (156494 was however crossed off on Friday) I decided to try and dig into my remaining 6 XC Voyagers and 3 Super Voyagers, expecting to hopefully cross off another as some cheap hop. In the end, I went to Durham a lot It was however a Sunday so a later start ensued, with me being at Newcastle station for 1410 in time to view the 1435 to Reading. An excellent start was had with winner 220025 working, My ticket was duly purchased and I plonked myself on board for the 14 mile run to Durham where I had the choice of either the 1514 or 1532 XC services back to Newcastle.

The 1514 was dud 221136 so it was flagged, however the 1532 also produced dud 220034 which was duly accepted just so I could be moving again! At least i'd had something on my first round. Round 2 was up next once i'd arrived back at Newcastle at around 1550, though i'd be best catching the next service out seeing as this 220 would be forming the next XC service in 45 minutes. Dud 185103 was taken down to Durham, complete with our resident Newcastle based TPE guard doing announcements, making the rather fated 'And for the first time in a while on a Sunday, we go to Liverpool Lime Street' announcement. More on that later.

I had around 10 minutes until the 1629 to Newcastle which was sadly formed of dud 220009. I was beginning to wonder whether to put the Voyager quest on the backburner seeing as i'd had 1 which was good going for so few requirements! However, on arrival back at Newcastle the delayed 1640 to Plymouth caught my eye, and I belted over to winner 220002 trailing dud 220026, though we didn't move. Lineside fire at Ferryhill meant that nothing was moving, including the 185 i'd had to Durham which hadn't made it much further beyond there! It did however terminate in Manchester, meaning that the announcement I mentioned earlier was sadly jinxed It was however useful for me as had this service been on time, i'd have missed it!

40 minutes later we eventually moved and I prepared myself for fun at Durham waiting for a service back to Newcastle. I flagged two full and standing 185s before the delayed 1713 to Glasgow arrived, with me slightly freezing and regretting not jumping on an earlier service! That regret was soon removed when I realised that winner 220027 was working! Superb, 3 out of 6 required 220s in the book on an afternoon jaunt, which saw me back at Newcastle for 1817 and calling it a day.

Successful afternoon, leaving just 3 XC 220s and 3 XC 221s to score!

Total Mileage- 84mi 18ch
----------------------------------------------------------
A July adventure in the form of a Heart of England Rover has also been pencilled in for July 19-21 basing myself in Birmingham, so as to allow me to get shack scoring in that area as well as clearing off bits of required track (such as the Bescot route into Wolves and Whitlocks to Wilmcote as well as Banbury to Oxford and onwards to Worcester)

3 more voyagers into your book

Newcastle - Durham is probably more exciting than Reading - Basingstoke

It's not a bad little hop of about 15 minutes. Just a faff changing at Durham!

The lad doesn't count them in his haulage requirements so he's either well ahead or impossibly behind [emoji38]

I got caught up in the delays that fire caused! Well done on crossing another three off the list though!

Nice work on getting 3 more Voyagers into the book, those last ones will take some finding! Unless you cheat and use the TOPS Request Thread

Well today commences a unit and shack hunt in Manchester, just 0845 to 1645 due to engineering works!

An apt start with gimmea50anyday being my train guard!
