My alter ego is Hapag Lloyd, not Finbarr. I've tried to live my life guided by the tenets of the good book - Viz's Top Tips.

Here's another tip which will not only save you money but could one day save your life:

If you're cold stand in a corner, they're usually about 90 degrees.

Enough frivolity here's the next question:

How many rooms are there in Hilbert's Hotel?

Seeing as didn't ask for any reasoning and I don't know what it is.

None?

That is not the answer, you must be thinking of Hilbert's building site (with planning permission for a hotel).

I know it's not the answer, I looked it up and realised I wasn't as clever as I thought I was. And I didn't actually think I was that clever anyway.

I've just started counting them. I'll get back to you when I finish...

(That might be a while, 'cause somebody told me it was infinite. Oh, and an infinitely large bus of tourists has just turned up wanting rooms as well!)

Yes, there are an infinite number of rooms and they are all occupied. When the infinitely large number of tourists check in the guests will be asked to move to the room number that is twice the one they are in. The guest in room 1 goes to room 2, the guest in room 2 goes to room 4 etc., this will leave an infinite number of odd numbered rooms unoccupied.
