*Makes a note not to go on a train with a purple light showing through the second man's window*.

Well its actually a mauve (sp?) light on a 175 & the chances of getting onto a train with that lit are very very slim as the unit should be taken out of service at the first available.

if it was a HST:

OTMR 'Healthy' light (OTMR unit on P/Cs is on the cab bulkhead, on the secnd mans side. BUT, it wouldnt be very clear, as they now have little plastic flip-up covers over them to stop the blue LED reflecting off the windscreen thus causing distraction to drivers.

or could be the Fire System 'Healthy' indication light, also on the second mans side.
