I can't spot an obvious reason for this happening, if it is going in then it should work - does it do it in full screen mode too?

Well, the research I have done on this suggests that it is not confined to BVE and is a general video hardware/software related problem. If this was my machine, I would try dropping the screen resolution down to 800x600 initially, if that still didn't work then try installing the latest video drivers for your card. Failing that I am at a bit of a loss on that one unfortunately.

I have performed a clean install of Vista x86 on a machine, and only installed the files listed in my steps and BVE works fine. If you are having problems, the only thing I can suggest is that you consider installing Vista from scratch - if you are unable to do this, then unfortunately you may have to stick with XP.

I'm sticking with XP as well. As Vista has still got to many bugs in it. As tried Vista on my PC and it don't like it. Crashed a few times with Vista. And my PC is just 6 months old

I'm still sticking with XP as SP3 upgrade has been released now

I wouldn't go as far to say 'Vista has still got to many bugs in it'. The problem is with the BVE side of things is BVE4 was written to work with Windows XP. You must understand that Vista was almost written from scratch, and it operates slightly different.

I really don't understand why poeple say its full of bugs. I can't see a company like Microsoft (unless their that stupid) release such a big operating system if it was full of this so called 'bugs'. For example I know for a fact, I wont release a train if it was 'full of bugs', yes it may have a bug here or there but thats only things I haven't noticed or my beta testers haven't noticed. But I can assure you as soon as I find out I'll fix it. Now going back to Vista, I expect microsoft are the same, and with the windows auto updater they'll fix them 'bugs'.

Other things that don't work on Vista are the same as BVE, the where written to work with XP therefore they may or may not operate correctly on Vista - period.

I also expect the other programs and/or hardware that doesn't work on Vista, will be updated at some point along the lines. It really depends on how well it was written in the first place, it can take some poeple months to get things to work on Vista.

I have had Vista installed for a while now (I even beta tested it before it was released, and I spotted the bugs then, and reported them) and I will not go back to XP. Reasons being is because Vista is SO STABLE for me, I haven't yet once hit CTRL+ATL+DELETE nether has anything crashed enough for me to have to hit restart on my box. It's safer, cleaner lookings and much faster.

Now going back to BVE Vista, I will try tonight to install BVE on my system and see how it goes. If it doesnt work then I'll wait for Mackoy, and if he doesn't get Vista to fix the problems, then unfortunatly bye BVE.

Change happens, XP is not being supported as of next year so whats the point? I don't think there's going to be many updates for it therefore your XP system will be more open to virus etc..

I'll let you know how it goes on my system.

Thanks,
