I have a priv Oyster card. It charges 40p a tap. Since my priv has expired, my Osyter has gone crazy and started charging £1.50 a tap.
I'm assuming that (after no help from London Underground staff) it's because my priv has expired and it's decided to become a normal charging adult Oyster card? Does this mean I have to fill in the form and receieve a new Oyster card everytime my priv expires? This is rather stupid, as the form requires a signature from my Dad's boss, which can take quite a while as he's a very busy man. Anyone else have this problem? £1.50 is the standard adult fare for a zone 1 single.
LU staff won't have a clue as they are just supposed to give you the number for the helpline. I don't know, possibly. Try contacting Oyster support or whoever administers the priv scheme. It's not particularly stupid, getting a signature isn't that bad in return for free train travel!

Getting a signature isn't that bad, no. But my Dad hardly every sees his boss, and it can take weeks to get the signature. Meaning that I have problems travelling around London (which I do quite often) because I have to queue for a ticket, usually making it very difficult to catch my intended train.
We've contacted the LU staff, but they aren't awful helpful either. Just telling me to redo the form and apply for another really. They can't even find my Oyster card number in their system. |

The Oyster card you've got is a standard card, with the Priv discount entitlement. When the card was issued to you, the discount entitlement was set to expire on the same date as your PTAC. As all NR Privs were renewed recently, I suggest this is the problem, and the card is acting as a normal Oyster. You'll need to take both to the ticket office to get it updated. I don't know if you have to fill out the other form.

You could use your Oyster card normally rather than queuing for a ticket?

If you have a Priv that is valid on LU, then you can use it to Pay As You Go on the tube, DLR & NR. Croydon Tramlink is free for those Priv holders, but you don't need Oyster. You pay the Priv fare for each journey and capping applies at £2 (same as a Priv Travelcard.) Bus fares are charged at the normal adult rate.
You can use it the same, but you've got to have a form signed and given into the ticket office with your PTAC.

Just take your staff travel card and your Oyster card to any LU ticket office and ask them to update your Oyster card with your new staff travel card number and expiry date. You don't need to submit a new form.
