I looked for the first train From Birmingham - London for Sunday 16th December and the first was is 10:00 i thought there would be an earlier one than that? as i would like to get to London for say 10:00 then go accross to Kings Cross to Catch the 86 upto Doncaster at 10:42 (If that's right, as i understand the 86 only runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday?) and Friday i'll be travelling to Birmingham, Saturday a Railtour and thought Sunday i could do the 86 run then as Monday i will be coming back upto Aberdeen.
Also what would be cheapest fares? as a SVR to London would not be vaid would it? even though on the Return Leg i will be going back to Birmingham but just the long way round Cheers, Jord |

The 10:00 is not the first train. That's the first Pongo. Chiltern looks a better bet on this day only taking 20 mins longer.

Remember that Savers are valid at ANY TIME on Virgin with your Y-P railcard on Friday. One thing you could consider, that would get round your problem, is an Aberdeen-London Saver, and a London-Birmingham Saver which would be valid on the 16:51 Class 90 from Euston on Friday. Whatever you do, you'll either need a SOR (very expensive and pointless!) or two tickets. A cheaper option would be an Aberdeen-London Saver and then a 'Just 15' (£9.85 for you) from Birmingham to London (dep Moor St 0913, arr 1123), and abandoning the outward portion of your SVR at Birmingham. Scotland-London tickets are valid into Paddington (via Banbury) or into Liverpool Street (via Audley End), and just about everything in between including WCML, MML and ECML. You can try looking at the routeing guide but the number of valid possibilities for such tickets are mind boggling. |

Well i was going to buy a SVR Aberdeen - Birmingham [going down on the friday 14th December Via Peterborough, is this valid?] then saturday would be the railtour, then 16th go to London for the 86 run upto Doncaster, but that leaves Kings Cross at 10:42, so 11:23 is too late obviously, but if i can't get there before 10 or whenever, i'll abandone that idea and have to do something else, then on the Monday with my SVR leave Birmingham on the 05:30 Pendo upto Carlisle Arr 08:30 so i have a few hours there for phtotting etc before returning to Aberdeen [if all of this is valid obviously]

Buy a SVR to Nuneaton instead, that way you can go via PBO one way and via BHM another. (just get a single from Nuneaton to Brum). I really don't think you can get away wth using a Saver to Brum via Peterborough (it's not valid from York but check the RG, but I doubt it will be valid from Aberdeen).
That then covers you for Fri/Mon. what you do in between requires separate tickets, obviously. |

And from Birmingham - London? But i was thinking the tour i do on December 15th, go to Swindon, then get the train into London late-ish, then is it possible to just overnighter on a station, as i've been told it may be possible to do on Paddington?
