Default How would a train get from Glasgow Central to Inverness?

A little while back, I found a video on YouTube about "Union of South Africa" pulling a RailTour Train from Glasgow Central to Inverness.

Now, how would it have done that? I'm guessing it would've revered at Edinburgh. Is this correct?

Several possible ways. The most likely one would be Glasgow-Carmyle-Kirkwood-Coatbridge Central-Cumbernauld-Carmuirs Jn-Larbert and so on. But I'm not sure if it's the route that that specific railtour took.

EDIT: Timings from Scot-rail.co.uk confirm that this route was taken.

To Edinburgh via Carstairs, then possibly running along the line that goes across the Southern edge of Endinburgh towards Millerhill yard, back onto the ECML at Craigentinny and through Waverley and away over the bridge. Have a look at Google maps and you should see what I mean!! http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll...,0.617981&z=11

That would've been more fitting had my question not already received a proper answer.
