Default Cottam on holiday?

Anyone here with inside information?? Noticed how a large hole in the traffic along SYJR has appeared during the last 2 weeks, virtually nowt except 2-4 per day. Anyway had a look at Cottam today.....and its like a ghost plant....only pigeons flying about....STOP Do Not Pass track borads.... and rusty rails which is not generally a good sign. The Doncaster crowd may also have noticed a drop in FHH traffic as well. The rails into West Burton are shiny so they have some traffic there...! Summer is traditionally the time EDF would build up stocks for the impending winter but what with a warm summer and plant outages, it looks like Cottams been frozen-in-time.
Anyone with any idea??

OK had a chat with a local who told me thus; for the first time in a very very long time, Cottam has been shut down completely for 3 week while they change all the wooden slats inside the cooling towers. There are hundreds of thousands of them and so EDF apparently decided to do the lot in one fell swoop. Seems plausible explanation and today they appeared to be lighting up again, I can see the stack from my house and so I always notice when they are on / off / half power by the plume.
Interesting hour watching this thing negotiate the back lanes of Leverton and Sturton, bit of excitement in a normally placid corner of Notts.

We (the UK) still have this love-affair with the dash-for-gas power basis, which makes us more & more dependent of foreign technology for the machines and dependent on Russian Federation/ Ukraine/Norway for our energy (gas). GE, Siemens and Alstom must be laughing all the way the the US Fed & Euro Bank.....!! Soon to be on-line are Staythorpe C, West Burton B and Isle of Grain

Shall have to wait and see if anything picks-up, meanwhile Ferry C deliveries on as normal, makes one wonder where all this stuff comes from, Margaret milk-snatcher did us well and truly in!! but I'm not bitter.....much! Once upon a time we had our own industry that could make these things...but not now Jonny Foreigner has bought them up and closed us down......Grrrrr....!
