Number 1 is showing as zero views to me at the moment, how can you judge from a thumbnail?

It simply has to be 16 for me. Great idea, technical skill, and learning of the timing of the crossing to pull it off. A shot I've always wanted to try (at any full barrier crossing) but never have. I hope I can be half as successful if I do. A good spread of entries in general though, all with different takes on the theme.

I'll take that as a complement, alas it is not mine. I eagerly await the unmasking of the photographer on Sunday.

I have to say, 15 looked simply stunning in the thumbnail for me, but when viewed large I disliked it. Far too much editing (although I don't have the skills to say what has been done!) in my opinion..... Number 1 for me.

16 for me too, with 15 a close second. Normally I'd go for the pretty picture rather than something technically clever, but 16 really is technically clever, and it meets the spirit of the criteria well

How do other people compare photos then?

I only open the ones I think I might like from the thumbnail, and then close tabs for ones I think aren't the nicest until I'm only left with one.

I look at them all at full size, unless it's something that has been entered for a joke (the model train last week springs to mind) or it's obviously terrible (the photo of a LC taken from the car dashboard springs to mind). I'll then go back to the main page, open all the ones I thought were worthy of a second look into tabs, then close tabs until I'm left with only one.

No 10 for me I think - really good, and exactly what the theme is about. Then again, I am a P-Way guy, so I'm probably a bit biased...

I must also give a mention to 3 and 16.

3 is really interesting and unusual, but it doesn't really fit the category of railway infrastructure.
16 is great, but I think 10 pips it.

I was completely stumped at first, and thought of the idea on sunday afternoon. I only got one chance to get it right when it was dark enough, but had a couple of practice shots when it was a bit lighter
