Thank you for bringing this to my attention. When steam specials are due through newark we normally have one NWR guy there (sometimes me). We didn't think that the diverts would bring anyone out but as i can see they did. Thanks again. All the best Simon |

Do you not think the driver in this instance would have reported it? Last edited by GB; 10th October 2010 at 15:44. Reason: Double post prevention system |

So why the need for another pointless thread on here and on other forums?

We could also ask why are you so keen to have threads like this suppressed? I don't see any harm in having the odd thread like this crop up so what's the big deal?

Chester025 admits to being a trespasser in another thread, where he attempted to push the blame on to my colleagues for not noticing his stupidity.

It's cringe worthy to see the young lad with his back to the rail and almost standing on it! I appreciate that enthusiasts will always want a prime view of trains, but i know of at least FOUR level crossings in this particular area where the surrounding view is clear and you can get close without trespassing or getting nobbled!
Bottom line its down to every individual to use common sense. While id like to see the BTP deal with those who leave their common sense at home, i doubt they have the resources in which to tackle enthusiasts who put their own and others lives in danger. Sadly it will always be those of us who actually abide by law and never trespass that will suffer for the law breakers. I'd also like to add that many of those enthusiasts who do trespass are likely to be a member of some rail forum and just maybe they will see pics of themselves acting irresponsibly and read peoples responces and feel shamed into curbing their behaviour, i dont think this type of thread is pointless at all |

It astonishes me how some parents let their children do this. I take it this was on the ECML? If so, there are 4+ 125mph trains in each direction hourly. Though not the case with HSTs, some IC trains are silent until within spitting distance of you, and if the worst case wcanerio occured and anyone got hit, you can be sure of two things: 1) the person hit would be at fault (i.e. trepassing on railway lines) and 2) the driver would get blamed. Honestly, people so idiotic to do this.

Because another pointless thread just gives everyone a chance to jump on the bandwagon. I don't condone many cases of trespass, but I don't feel the need to go shouting it from the hillside!

This isn't another bandwagon, it's sayingpeople thick enough to trepass will ruin it for everyone else! Last edited by MattE2010; 10th October 2010 at 17:51. Reason: Double post prevention system |

Hi, the people in the photos posted do not look like they have any intention of using the crossing for its intended purpose to cross the line safely.
Can some of these people can be identifed and further action taken. Would the guy standing there watching one of those kids being put into a body bag have a daft grin on his face then, I think not. This kind of action just shows the stupidity of some people. These people make the working lives harder for all railway and police staff by having to clear up the mess after the acident, they also ruin an otherwise harmless hobby for all other enthusiasts. |
