As far as I know 455 456 and 458 are officially still in service and still on NIR stock books, but as you have correctly said they are now in store.

I can confirm that 455 and 456 are at Ballymena and a pic of 455 is here

458 is at Belfast Central.

454 and 459 are also at Belfast Central, they have officially been withdrawn although they are still serviceable.

A video of 458 at Belfast just before NIR stopped using it is here with withdrawn 459 in background.

There are rumours that 3 class 450s will be retained as reserve vehicles at least during 2012, and the retention in stock of 455 456 and 458 would appear to confirm this.

454 458 459 are in Belfast Central parcels siding, not Bangor

453 and 457 are in Bangor

455 and 456 are in Ballymena

451 is expected to go for scrap on Saturday (28th)

Alfred -

This above link to this video shows "belfast central" in the commentary.....Fail to see why and how this could have been mistaken for Bangor.

All of the remaining 8 450 class sets are still on the books and remain property of NIR until such time when a buyer purchases them for scrap or future use.

The sets to be kept as a "reserve" until July I'm told are 455 , 456 & 458. However, it is unlikely these will be needed at all

This video says it all for NI Thumpers

Thanks for the confirmation r/e the keeping of three sets - but is it just until July?

Not surprised at what you say r/e 451! Hear both have been - were heavily cannibalised to keep the rest going, a' la 452 - the entire of one side by the engine bay of the power car was cut away in the pics taken at Hamils, and there was no sign of any engine at the scrapyard - that I saw in the pics - at all... Probably been torn apart for spares!

Sorry for the error r/e locations - I have corrected my list above.

Some interesting pics of 453 457 and 459

457 - http://www.flickr.com/x/t/0096009/ph...us/6917903173/
Bangor
459 - http://www.flickr.com/x/t/0095009/ph...us/6917910831/
Belfast Central

Yes the vehicles remain NIR property until paid for and removed etc.

No sign of when that will be. They are going to keep one 450 set as a sandite but that will not enter service until 2013 (80 for this year 2012) so it might be a while yet...

Pictures of the Class 80s being transferred from Portadown, presumably to York Road, have been posted to the Downpatrick & County Down Railway's Facebook page:
