Hi all,
just wondering if anyone knows the workings for the London Midland 153 that is currently on loan to Northern Rail and has been spotted numerous times on the Caldervale Line. Any timetables or information regarding it would be of great help as I have missed a video opportunity of the train several times in New Pudsey and I am desperate for a video! Thankyou very much. |

In theory it can go wherever a Northern 153 can go although it normally runs coupled to another unit due to it not having a wheelchair ramp fitted (I can't remember the exact circumstances behind its missing ramp though).

Going to say if you stand at Leeds you should be able to see it eventually.

yesterday (sun 11th) i travelled on the 09:54 from Leeds - Manchester Victoria, this service was formed of 155341, 153366, 153360.
155341 was leading out of Leeds, then 153360 leading after changing ends at Bradford. on arrival at Manchester Victoria 155341 detatched and formed the 1208 service back to Leeds, 153366 & 153360 then formed the 13:40 ECS to Newton Heath. It even advertised on the departure boards: Plat 3, 13:40 ECS to Newton Heath T.M.D. Calling at: Newton Heath T.M.D only. Its a good job the 09:54 service from Leeds was 4 cars as by the time it got to Hebden Bridge all seats taken and standing room only from Todmorden all way into Manchester. I caught the 14:08 back to Leeds which was formed of 158901 which was pretty cosy but no one standing, althought in our carriage 52901 the lights kept tripping into emergency lighting and the conductor having to reset them all the time. |

London Midland have been generous with short-term loans of Class 153 this year. We were on holiday in Falmouth on the first week in August this year and a London Midland 153 was running the Truro to Falmouth Docks branch line service. I think that two of these are working the Cornish branch lines this summer.

I suspect what you may have seen are the 150's that have been cascaded from LM to FGW (as well as other operators) due to the new 172's arriving |

I was on the 2100 Manchester Victoria-Clitheroe on Wednesday 24th August, which was formed of a 156 and said 153.
