Default Train spotting at Nuneaton

I live miles away from Nuneaton but will be passing through on a Friday this month and I'm keen to spend an hour there, mainly watching freight. My itinerary will allow me to stop for that hour either midday or late afternoon. Anybody got any suggestions as to which would be better. Or should I chose another day?

Late afternoon, definitely!

(specifically, 15:40 to 16:40 would be the best 60 minute period)

Default Thanks for your advice

Ian and Mark, thanks for your advice. I arrived at 15.40 and left 17.05 and saw loads and loads including the Colas. I managed a stop at Chesterfield en route and saw quite a but there - but not as much as at Nuneaton. There were about 20 other spotters at Nuneaton, about 10 at Chesterfield. Thanks for your advice, it was spot on. Kevin

Did you take your own fold up seat and loiter outside the drivers messroom, or were you on platform 2 and 3 reading a paper?!
