Default Idea for Stratford Station

My idea is to rebuild all the old parts stratford station with paths, bus lanes, taxi and drop of points and cycle lanes feeding into the station like the central line does, using extensive flyovers, dive unders, and having the existing DLR line run along side the current and then join it to serve stratford international.

The idea would also involve leaving extra ghost platforms which would mean that if needed in future they could add more railway, monorail, tramway or bus lane without any disruption, including crossrail.

This would relive railway congestion, and if you could get from one means of transport to another by going down some steps or ramps into an under concourse with plenty of shops and of course the jubilee and DLR platforms and up some more steps or ramps or across the concourse, it would be very innovative and intergrated.

This would also show UK's superiority during the 2012 games and could be used for films like many of the JLE stations are.

I've seen diagrams for the new Stratford.

Perhaps if you can produce diagrams of your own plan, I can compare the two.

I am not sure about the 'ghost platforms' though as unless there are plans in place, it seems silly to build a platform on the off-chance that a new line might be built, one day.

I've got the DLR plans for stratford, looks like 4 platforms to DLR, two for lewisham and two for olympic park.

JUst a little bit of info, i'd be interested in seeing the plans too. I'm that sort of person!

Maybe some semtex will make stratford into Modern Art? then you can pour on the concrete to set it in place.

My Ideas:

Dedicated busway between Stratford Bus station and Stratford International/ 2012 complex.

New entrance to Straford facing Leyton.

Include avoiding lines to allow services which don't stop, to negotiate Straford without loss of speed.

Abolish DLR platform 4, in favour of 2 new platforms, and doubling of the line as far as Pudding Mill lane, and then Bow Church before 2012.

Provision of a footbridge between all mainline Platforms and main concourse.

A covered travelator link between both stations.

My idea:

Forget London 2012, move it to a shared Birmingham/Manchester thing. Finally get on with improvements to New Street station, and fix the congestion poo at Proof House Jn and Kings Norton. Get on with knocking down and starting again at Wolverhampton station. Extend the Midland Metro. Refurb Manchester Victoria, extend Metrolink, build a new dedicated 'Birmingham Cross Rail' for XCity line services to relieve pressure on New St station.

I can dream, can't I?

To get rid of High Meads so that all freight comes through the station!

There's quite a few inaccuracies in that diagram. Where are the Central Line platforms, for example?

On the issue of avoiding lines, I think that would be a waste of money since as it is most trains stop at Stratford (only know of one of the 2 'Anglia' trains an hour that doesn't stop), and with the the CTRL, Olympics and other improvments in the area they will probably want to stop more trains and not less. Compared to the line speed at that point anyway, their isn't a particular loss of speed for none stop trains these days anyway, and with the other changes, line speed might be improved anyway.

I think that there should be alternating Lea Valley services via Tottenham Hale/Seven Sisters. I also think that the c2c diversions should be considered as a more permanent service, and have services every 30 out of Liv. St.

P.S It would've been a good day there today, 86622 l/e, 47810 in passenger service on the Anglia services, 47841 and the 442 drag...

All my ideas involve the building of a very large wall from East to West just North of Watford, then levelling everything north of it.
