Default Been invited to an online test! :-/

Well to my enormous surprise I got a mail from Northern telling me I'd passed the paper sift and now need to do an online Dependability and Safety Instrument test..!!

I've not seen this test mentioned in these threads! Is this a new thing??

I have until February 15th to do it! Has anyone experienced this test before..?

I was invited to complete a "Dependability and Safety Instrument" test today which I wasn't expecting. Maybe it's a new way to skim down the numbers before interviews/assessments.

I'd be interested to learn of others experience of this test.

Congrats martin! I've done that test, I wouldn't say its too hard. What role have you applied for may I ask?

I got the same and have done the test. It wasnt exactly a test though. It wanted to know which one of the two statements were most accurate about me at work. Is this the same as what you experienced?

You may lol I applied for trainee driver. Really wasn't expecting to get past the initial sift, so just getting this far is a bit of a boost.

This kind of online test is quite hard, as you really have no idea what they're after - which of the following is more like me, "I rarely feel sad or upset" or "I like to get jobs done quickly"... Impossible to know why they're after, which is the whole point of the test I guess!

i believe that these tests are used by some TOC's
a company called saville consulting has a few practise ones on their website

http://www.savilleconsulting.com/products/aptitude.aspx

might be of use?

Well surprisingly; as i've already passed this test with Northern some weeks ago for the Victoria Station team Leader, (whilst at the same time i'd also applied for the position of trainee driver at Victoria too!) I just checked the Northern applicant page & I've completed it and passed it without even doing it! bonus! lets just see if i actually get through the next sift!

I got the same e-mail today, it's just a very basic personality test. It's only 18 questions long. Think it might just be to cut numbers down a bit.

Well I did it :-/ i was half expecting to get a message straight after saying "sorry, you're not suitable"... I had to choose "neither" for one of the questions, probably frowned upon.

Can you tell I'm not optimistic about this? lol :-/ well we'll just have to wait and see won't we...

Great surprise to get this email today for both Leeds and Manchester Trainee Driver positions! Two tests to take, can't wait to get back to the laptop! Thanks to all who have posted above! Even though we could all be battling for the same role it's great to see people helping one another along! Well done guys hope you all do really well!

Hear hear!

Who knows, there might be several roles to go for so we might not necessarily be directly competing with each other

Do you live bang in the middle of Manc and Leeds to be able to apply for both? Double your chances, I can only ever go for Manchester roles!
