Can the Merseyrail Daysaver be purchased from Chester station (using either TVMs or the ticket office)? I heard about the destination being northwirrallines or something similar; is this still true? And does it still say Single on it despite it being valid for unlimited travel the whole day? And could it be purchased elsewhere (e.g. Shrewsbury); does anyone know the code?

I know there's also the Saveaway but I was half-thinking of visiting the Merseyside Tramway, going from Shrewsbury to Chester then Merseyrail to Birkenhead Hamilton Square and probably won't be going anywhere else.

Yes, Chester do sell the Daysaver. I'm not sure if the TVM's are able to issue this as they're Arriva machines, but the ticket office will gladly sell you a Daysaver.

The ticket is only valid on the Northern & Wirral lines, hence the wording on the ticket & yes, it's issued as a single although it's unlimited travel (off peak) for a full day.

Chester TVMs will issue the Day Saver ticket. All booking offices seem to be able to issue them as well (Wrexham, and Shrewsbury)

Watch it when using the daysaver in the barriers at Hamilton Square and Central, I used it to tick off the West Kirby, Kirkby and Ormskirk branches, it didn't work once in the barriers

I've not had that issue anytime I've used one. Out of interest where was the ticket issued?

May well have been your individual ticket as Day Savers usually work in the barriers.

You can buy it at a TVM by typing "Northwirrallines" as the destination or ask for one at the ticket office. Station staff sell hundreds of them, but the code is I375.

It'll set you back £4.20

The price is indeed £4.20.
However the fare before the January 'increase' was £4.50. This reduction was advertised on posters as being a special offer until (from memory) the end of March. So expect the price to rise then back to £4.50 or more likely somewhat higher. Good value for money whatever.

I had no idea what that meant! Very interesting. IMHO NORTHWIRRALLINES it is really hard to read. Something like
NTHN/WIRRAL LINE
would fit equally well within the 16-character limit.

Could this ticket be bought at any ticket office eg Milton Keynes Central or Crewe with this code? I'll need one on March 24th but will only have about 8 minutes at Liverpool South Parkway so would rather get one beforehand.

Yes, providing the origin on the ticket is a station served by Merseyrail.

eg: LIVERPOOL S PWAY to NORTHWIRRALLINES should be sellable as a straight forward point to point ticket.

Thanks - I'll head off to the station armed with this info. Shame you can't just enter the from/to stations online.

And prints with route †ANY PERMITTED, somehow!

For the benefit of confused station staff, the code for the destination is I375.

I am very doubtful that there are, but are there any Priv / other RCD discounts available on this?
