Am applying for this job as we speak for Sheffield. It's a bit annoying having to write a paper application as much prefer doing them electronically these days! Anyway moaning aside can anyone give me any tips for getting this job or clues on what EMT might be looking for?

Another thing is I currently live elsewhere in Yorkshire so would have to relocate to Sheffield, would they hold this against me? The thing is my partner & I genuinely want to move to Sheffield anyway so it's perfect timing this job coming up really, just hope they don't hold it against me that I currently live elsewhere!

Paper based applications are an interesting one. Your attention to detail, spelling, writing style etc. could well be seen as a reflection of you as a person so whilst it's a bit of a pain, well worth taking time over.

Does the job spec / ad say you need to live within a certain travel time or distance? If so, you can be sure they'll check this out as part of the sift if they get a lot of applications. If not, shouldn't be an issue. As for what they're looking for, not seen the job spec myself but if you highlight experience against each point in there, you should be in good stead. Good luck and I'm sure someone else with more relevant experience will be along to help soon!

EMT aren't worried about travelling distance to work, even for Traincrew.as long as you can get in its no problem.

The Platform Staff at Sheffield are a good bunch, if you're down there at some point it might be worth seeing if one will tell you a bit about the job. They Dispatch all trains from the station(ex Northern and TPE)and do passenger assistance etc.

Just state clearly on the application form that you are looking to re-locate for the position.
