A link from London Midland's twitter account to the DfT says:

"The trains will also enable electric services from Birmingham New Street to be extended to Bromsgrove from May 2015, assuming that the plan to relocate Bromsgrove Station is confirmed and electrification is completed on schedule."

I was aware that Bromsgrove was possibly going to be electrified, but I didn't know about the relocation. Does anyone know where they're thinking of moving it to? Hopefully not too far away as it's in such a handy spot to get to my moms house right now!

The station has to be relocated to allow the electric services to turnback, but AIUI it isn't a great distance - only 250 yards south, I'm sure someone will know the exact reasoning.

The new station project is local authority funded, but only recently confirmed happening again. Up until now the electrification project has been dormant awaiting the station move, but the move has been discussed for quite a few years, it was in the Mar 2009 NR enhancement plans, for instance...

I would imagine west, I doubt they'd build it on Lickey! Seriously though, yes, I think slightly south of the current site. It has been proposed in the past but it's gone a bit quiet of late, I know the local MP has been pushing for it for ages. The new station should bring a booking office etc though, at least by the old proposals, so that should be an improvement.

This post takes me into the Top 10 Overall. Wow.

Local media apparently reported it was fully funded again a few weeks ago, if it really is there should be a revision in this months update to the NR CP4 enhancement plans...

The station has to be moved slightly south to accomodate longer trains. On the current site the short northbound platform is trapped between overbridge and pointwork of the northbound loop and cannot be extended
