This might be the closest you can get to Frodsham Junction:

There's also Chester Road on the opposite side of the viaduct, or here if you have a good zoom!

Not too sure about Mickle Trafford. I know there's the Millenium Greenway footpath along the old railway line that used to go to Chester Northgate from Mickle Trafford, but not sure how close you can get to the signal box. I think the path ends at a derelict bridge going over the existing Manchester-Chester line so you might not be able to get any further than that. Maybe better shots from Station Road in Mickle Trafford.

Mickle Trafford is very difficult to get a good view of. You can see it end on from the greenway path from bridge (which is now part of the path which continues right down to station lane) but from the roadway it's pretty much hidden from view by the bridges and embankments in the Warrington/Mouldsworth direction. A long lens may be useful.

Beeston Castle signal box is off the A49 in Beeston, if you are coming from Nantwich direction it is on your right as you go under railway.
You will need to access the market or better still walk down canal path.

Best view is from a passing train with opening windows, which nowadays usually means a charter train.

I love that MOD story at Sealand!

Interesting story.

In 1992, RAF Sealand was involved in the servicing of Armed Forces electronic equipment. The security aspects would have been to do with what could have been gleaned from an intelligence appraisal of the buildings, layouts etc. Nowadays, Google Maps would supply more information, and Wikipedia gives more recent information.
