Aye, a lot changed in December 2008. Before then some XC trains used to alternate between Wigan and Warrington, and London trains had somewhat random calling patterns at times. Nowadays, all Scotland-Birmingham trains serve both, but some 'extra' London trains do not call, I think they total roughly 8tpd.

Preston-Bournemouth diversion via Wigan non-stop, oh don't we know it!
Back in them days there were more services passing through, with an hourly to Bristol, hourly to Bournemouth (on diversion most of the time due to being unable to cover via Chorley) and the London services. Back in 2002, I remember that being about right.

I'm pretty certain I saw a post from you in the last couple of days where you admitted that you are on 12 or 13. If that is the case and you can remember what happened in 2002, then perhaps we should enter you in the Genius Of The Year competition!

I'm 22 and I assure you that I can remember provincial liveried 143s (Or "roundy Pacers" as I used to call them as a young 'un to distinguish them from the more angular 142s) and still fairly shiny Intercity liveried 91s in my local area: That's the same sort of age to have memories from. Though I had little idea of the service patterns until later on, admittedly.

I remember two particular stations from 18 months old, but not trains, oddly, and certainly not timetables, calling patterns or anything like that.
