Received an e-mailing from UK Railtours the other day with brief details of a few new tours in the pipeline (bold is from the e-mail, rest are my own comments):

BOULBY on Saturday 1 September
King’s Cross, Potters Bar, Stevenage, Peterborough and York to the scenic Saltburn to Boulby branch, courtesy of Cleveland Potash Ltd

Apart from the Saltburn 150 trip last year which should've been steam but ended up at 47/57 due to a steam ban at the time due to dry weather, it's been a few yeas since any tour visitied the Boulby branch. Last time I did it was behind a pair of 37s in 1990.

POWER STATION LOOPS on Saturday 20 October
Euston, Watford, Milton Keynes, Rugby and Crewe to two power stations. Further info cannot be disclosed until final agreement is given.

Given the final pick-up, I suspect these will be different power stations to those visited by Pathfinder in January.

FURTHER DATES for Forgotten Tracks tours look like being Saturdays 3 November, 17 November and 15 December.

Ones to keep free in the diary I think!

Will there be any chance of joining up late on that tour (say either York or Saltburn if it calls there) to do the Boulby branch or will it be necessary to do the whole thing?

I imagine it will be a similar setup to the Seal Sands tour last year, there was a KX - York for fare daytrippers, a KX - Seal Sands fare and a reduced fare York - Seal Sands.

October 20th I would imagine to be Fiddlers Ferry and another power station in the North West?

With regard to November / December, does that mean there are three rare track tours in the space of seven weeks or one rare track tour on three possible dates?

About time. He did plan one a few years back in conjunction with the Darlington ACoRP event but was scuppered by another operator. I still have the very unamused letter he sent to people booked on it.

Pure guess, but I would have thought they would be 2 operated by the same company, therefore assuming they haven't changed hands since the last Baker was published I go for Fiddlers Ferry and Ferrybridge or Cottam and West Burton.

The second one could be Ferrybridge Power Station as it is running by same company as Fiddlers Ferry Power station which is Scottish and Southern Energy?

But it did not say in North West, so it can be in Yorkshire or Midlands.
