hello everyone,

was recently looking at some of the train tickets i have had on some of the journeys i have made and there was one thing on there that i have always wondered what it meant.
(my appologies if this has already been brought up before)

when looking at the destination, it would say something like this:

from
POOLE *

to
WEYMOUTH *

i am wondering what the stars mean after the stations. This was on a single and on a return it was something like this
from
Soton ctrl

to
bath spa *

cheers,

Dan

yeah i spose it could relate to some T&Cs, there isnt anything on the back of the ticket that says it could be that.

That is correct, eg Reading and Reading West.

Worse still, Nottingham to Loughborough, becoming Nottingham to Loughborough Junction.

There are also some stations with a full stop after the name, which actually shows up on platform tickets and rovers as well as normal tickets, eg, Bolton is Bolton.*, I know there is some significance of the full stop, but I cant remember what it is.

And other stations have text added after them. Shirley becomes Shirley W Mids, not because there is 2 stations called that, but to stop people changing it to Shipley.

Sort of related, does anyone know what a "Q" after the price means, where you have M for paid by cash, X for card etc...

When Thameslink were using APTIS then RTV came under W however when the new TIS came in they went under M because they are entered as a sundry item rather than a warrant so when the ticket was printed it was done as M.
