East Coast Board of Directors on board!

I'm currently on the 14:50 ex Aberdeen to London King's Cross. Train departed Edinburgh approximately 17:30 at which point coach L was joined by a selection of East Coast Directors! First person noticed was the Director of Communications, then the Customer Service Director, and now Karen Boswell the MD!

Service standards since Edinburgh have been exemplarily

We did get a signal failure south of Berwick upon Tweed and are now about 15 down I must say though communication on board about this was fantastic!

You should know better. TOCs only permit disruption when it has been positively confirmed that neither Her Majesty The Queen, any local peers, any MPs, nor any senior management staff are onboard.

Service standards since Edinburgh have been exemplarily

Out of interest - if you are familiar with FC on that route - what has the level of service been compared to usual, particularly number of 'runs' of hot drinks, the cold drinks trolley and food?

Three full trolley runs. Just after departure then at Edinburgh, and Newcastle. Countless soft drinks and tea/coffee offered.

The East Coast Senior Management are not the only TOC whose staff chose to travel on EC :
ScotRail drivers shun own trains over cramped and uncomfortable conditions

Kevin Lindsay, Aslef’s Scottish secretary, said he had booked seats for the three-and-a-half hour journey with East Coast because its trains were more comfortable.

He described ScotRail’s class 170 Turbostar trains, used on routes between the central belt and Inverness and Aberdeen, as more suited to commuter journeys.

“I know they are not comfortable, to the point that we have got a conference in Inverness in a couple of weeks’ time and we have already booked seats on the East Coast train. That’s train drivers choosing to go that way. I think that speaks volumes.”

Surely the staff are walking a tightrope! If they give out too many freebies, they'll be in trouble for wasting the company's money!

That was my thinking - catch 22 between providing a proper FC service so the punters look happy but not overdoing it as per the ridiculous formulaic service pattern they are supposed to adhere to! I feel sorry for the catering manager on that train!
