Starts tonight on BBC 1 @ 9PM.

Personally hoping that this Series is better than last years. Although I didn't mind last years Series I think it was a bit flat compared to previous years.

Does anyone know the format for this year? Is it the same as last year or will it go back to Lord Sugar looking for an employee?

I must admit I laughed quite loudly at the bloke in the opening sequences who said 'I am the reflection of perfection'. What a tool.

I was quite surprised to see her go, but I knew Lord Sugar wouldn't have been impressed when she said about being head girl! I also noticed that she was on a C stock at the start, when she was doing her interview bit ;)

I have a feeling Katie was about to go as he was saying about how he doesn't like people being in the shadows, but with t'other one trying to win the record for talking for England, he thankfully got shut!

To be honest, I am less bothered about this series. Watched tonight whilst mainly doing stuff on the laptop.

The way it is cut together is annoying (unavoidable in some ways obviously) in that you cannot tell what has actually happened at all and of course, they only tend to show bits that make good TV.

Yes - it's one big stitch up showing people who like to boast how great they are and then follow up by showing their ineptitude.

The one that was booted last night failed to learn one of the most basic lessons in life - know when to shut up.

Couldnt agree more. But i take pleasure from watching the above type of people compete, arse lick and argue with each other :)

I'm almost starting to prefer "The Junior Apprentice" to the real mccoy, the last one was most enjoyable in my view.:p

I got the same feeling - that other one really didn't know when to shut up. The sob story in particular was ridiculous (as are most of the candidates!).

I just watch it for the birds eye view of London footage ;)

Good view of some 378s

She was far too keen on talking about her hard life.

I was sure Katie was about to be fired, but he changed his mind when Baylana started going on again!

Indeed, she really did dig her own grave so to speak.

One of the reasons I like the show is to see the arrogant windbags falling flat on their faces!

In the US version series 2 the team in the board room had won the task the previous week so the project manager had immunity from getting fired. He wasn't responsible for the failure in the second week (it was quite clear who was) but he was so confident that he said he would be prepared to waive his immunity. Trump accepted and then fired him rather than the person that was repsonsible for the failure.

Donald Trump is a pompous jerk. No one in America likes him. And have you guys heard of the show Hell's Kitchen or Kitchen Nightmares?

You mean those British shows that were then copied by the US? Yep, heard of them, and a raft of others.

I wish he would do some more in the UK, at the start they were not so sensationalist and confrontational as they are know, and a lot more entertaining.

So what did people think to this series?

I'm guessing not much given the lack post in this thread.

Personally, I haven't made any effort to watch it this series - I almost didn't last series but this time really haven't had the time/inclination. I have jumped in and out of episodes when family have watched them (the day after usually, after recording them the night before) and also watched the final whilst staying with a friend. Other than that, I haven't, and given that, I can't say one way or another about the winner!

Ultimately though, it isn't now necessarily about the best person for working with Lord Sugar, it is now who has the best business plan, so it half defeats the object, really.

I watched most of it, only to see how silly some of the people on the show were. I'm sure the producers must pick people without any common-sense at all.

Format is getting a bit tired and predictable. Even Nick Hewer wasn't on as good form as he has been in past series. Can't see it having a much longer shelf-life.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head with that. I've been trying to work out why I haven't enjoyed the last couple of series so much, and I think that it's ever since the search has been to find a busines spartner rather than a real apprentice, the format doesn't fit quite as well.

My personal verdict (feel free to agree or disagree):

Well, it's not as good as it was when they were competing for the position of employment. However, looking at the positives, I did think that the right person won this year. From what I saw, Ricky was fairly strong throughout the process and he certainly treated it as a learning curve by at least publicly toning down his perceived 'cockiness'. He had the better business plan, which secured the investment.

I thought Nick (the runner up) was quite good as well, he seemed sensible and pleasant but was let down by his business plan. The other two finalists were certainly underwhelming. Jane's business plan would never have fitted Lord Sugar's portfolio, and I was not convinced by the wine guy at all - he didn't seem like a guy who'd ever done a proper days work in his life.

Adam annoyed me the most. Sure, he was a successful market trader and a brilliant salesman, but he just didn't seem to understand big business. I know he thought 'strategy' was just some management jargon, but when you're making crucial business decisions at a high level your strategy is key.

Last year, I was very much underwhelmed by Tom (the inventor) all the way though the 'process' - he was in the losing team pretty much every week and IMO some of the time he had contributed to that result, yet escaped the firing line (and only just on some occasions). However, he had a strong business plan and that seem to win him the investment. That seems to be the key criteria, which does question whether the task process has to be so drawn out!

Do remember that it is selectively edited, they can only fit so much of the task in 40 minutes of the programme. So, generally speaking, it tends to be the really good bits and the 'gaffes' that we see, rather than the sensible 'just getting on with it' (that probably wouldn't make good TV!). This was actually something brought up by a former contestant and I can understand their view on this.

That reminds me, was there any mention of last years winner and how he is getting on? would have been nice to know.

I think there was a brief talk with him in the you're fired programme after the semi final. Nothing much was said and if I remember rightly he was still selling his curved nail file and was developing further products, so everything appeared to be going fine (though that's what is bound to be said in that programme).

Since the change from competing for a job to competing for investment, it seems the candidates have gone from pretty poor to just plain ridiculous. I didn't think anyone really stood out in this series - apart from Nick, who was let down by an unworkable business plan.

Sugar said recently on Twitter that they're planning at least another two series, but I'm not sure whether I'll bother to watch again. The change doesn't work as well, but as Sugar's businesses have shrunk I'm presuming he doesn't have as many jobs to offer.

Personally I thought the last series of the "Junior Apprentice" was better than and more exciting than its big brother:p

Personally I think that they are running out of ideas for tasks, making the programme sometimes stale. I'd like to see the task where they have to sell products on a shopping channel brought back, a hilarious episode.
