Very nice shots on the Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen branch , and interesting to see some real new track covered up to the loading point. Many thanks.

Now that is history , as previous trains way back never went beyond the A474 crossing , if that.

Course there was an internal miners only work service in the 1940.s that went over the common onto the ex MR section to Cwmllynfell and Brynamman East. Serious hardcore interest there !

A few taken throughout the day

Looks like we shared a few locations there! I fancied that last shot at Aberdulais but we lost time from Resolven by taking a wrong turn at Tonna, so decided to take the Aberdulais shot from the Roundabout bridge, all in all a good days chase though, much thrash enjoyed on the final climbs to GCG!

I have tried to perfect that shot at Aberdulais for several years. I seem to have finally managed it.

Been let down by weather previously.

Around 1 in 39 up to GCG from Garnant.

(you can appreciate my knowledge of the area - when Betws new mine sent coal uphill to Abernant for blending and washing in the 1980's - around 22 or so HAA with a pair of 37s , you could hear them miles away. Coming down with an unbraked train could be quite pedestrian for obvious safety reasons. Good to see the line back in action.)
