Whats the best way for connecting to the East Lancs railway from Preston-there doesn't seem to be a through ticket to Bury so is it just a case of getting Metrolink from Manchester.

Thanks,

Looking at the Rawtenstall end of the ELR, if you're interested, then take the train for Accrington and await the 464 service at the bus station to Rochdale stopping in Rawtenstall. During the day there's at least 4 an hour and it's a 26 minute journey on the bus.

It depends how "best" is defined, but a bus from Bolton to Bury may be considered the best unless you really dislike buses.

First 471 appears to be typically every 10 minutes with a journey time of around 30 minutes.

North West Traveline has bus times: htt:)p://www.traveline-northwest.co.uk/journeyplanner/

Are there any appropriate tickets that could be bought from a station say a Preston to Manchester Metrolink zones ticket.....

How much would a bus ticket be-seems this could be the quickest route if not the cheapest route but my guess is it would also be cheapest.

Quickest and cheapest could potentially equal best route :)

That sounds ok-so either that or Metrolink.

Looking forward to first trip on ELR this Saturday :)
