Tornado and two diesels in Retford

Does anyone know what the two heritage diesel locomotives were that were heading southbound through Retford at 11:55 today (coupled together) and the reason for the move. The loco's didn't have TOPS numbers and, while I know locos such as the class 37, 47 and Deltic (and a few other heritage loco's), I wasn't sure what these two were. This wasn't helped by the fact that I had found out that Tornado was due through only 10 minutes previously and had to practically burn my mouth drinking a hot chocolate and dash from 6th form to see it (it's a good job I had a free lesson. Saying that, it was only because I normally go to town during my free lesson, which involves crossing a bridge over the ECML, that I noticed other enthusiasts waiting for something and decided to check online to see what it was). As well as this, I only had a few seconds to identify them as I hadn't reached the top of the bridge and was looking through the railings of the fence at the time.

Secondly, why did Tornado stop at Retford station? I presume it was a pathing stop, but why did it stop on platform 2 instead of continuing up the slow line to the Babworth loop?

I've come across steam locos a couple of times at Retford, stopped in the platforms taking on water. I'm not sure whether this was the reason for Tornado's stop - but due to Retford's relatively infrequent ECML service, the platform loops are normally available for such tasks for quite lengthy periods.
