Good morning all.

I am traveling from Durham to Halifax this Thursday 05/04/2012.

I wish to be in Halifax by 10.10am.

Now with that said, I will travelling from Halifax, on the same day, to Manchesater and returnijg from Manchesater to Durham on the 09/04/2012, Bank Holiday Monday after 6pm.

What type of ticket / route would I need ?

I have a DIS Adult card.

Cheers.
Matthew

A Durham - Manchester Stns Off Peak Return costs £38.40 (with a Railcard), and has no break of journey restriction so there is no issue breaking your outward journey at Halifax. This is valid on any permitted route between Durham & Manchester, meaning you can go via Halifax outward and on your return you can take the faster route avoiding Halifax.

It may be possible to find a combination of tickets that is cheaper than one through ticket, but you're unlikely to save much (unless you are prepared to be tied to specific trains or slower routes).

Edit - some info repeated as Yorkie's post was not here when I started writing!

For Durham to Halifax you either need to change at York or Leeds.

To arrive by 10:10, I'd recommend either:

* the 07:07 from Durham to York, arriving at 07:59. Take the 08:12 to Halifax, arriving 09:25
* the 07:55 from Durham to Leeds, arriving 09:08. Take the 09:23 to Halifax, arriving 09:55

An off-peak return from Durham to Manchester is £38.40 with a disabled railcard discount and is valid via Halifax. I'd strongly advise booking a seat on a train from Manchester to Durham on the Monday evening (you do not have to use your booked service if you have an off-peak return ticket), as they can get very busy. There are direct trains at 16:56 or 19:42. If you want to travel closer to 18:00, you'll need to change in Leeds or York.
