Is this possible? How much extra would it be and would I have to get a stopper that stops in Zone6 and then add a ticket to reading?

Thanks

What would I ask for at the Padd ticket office?

How much extra would it have been if I were to have bought a Z1-2?

Thanks Matt

However if you purchase from a named station, such as West Drayton, the train must call there to allow you to change from one ticket to the other.

Are you trying to start in London, make some journeys around London, go to Reading, and then come back to London (and possibly make more journeys)? Are you planning on going to Reading from Paddington or Waterloo?

I'm having a day out and am hoping to bash some HSTs! Can I buy from a TVM?

Boundary Zone tickets are Travelcard extensions allowing one return trip from the Boundary to the destination. They are not available online on any website, or from any TVMs, as far as I know.

The Bondary Zone 6 to Reading ticket would only allow you one return trip (though you can break your journey. If you intend making multiple Paddington-Readin return trips then, like Owlman, I would reccomend the Thames Branches Day Ranger.
Neither the ranger nor the Boundary Zone ticket is available from a TVM as far as I know. You'll have to buy from the booking hall (any BR booking clerk in the country should be able to do it)
