Just read an article in a back issue of Railway Magazine from August 2000. It talks of the Generator Coaches created for the Nighstar trains (coverted Mk3 IC Sleepers, and painted in the EPS livery) still being kept at North Pole. Over the years Ive never seen these vehicles at North Pole from all the vantage points around the site.

Any idea if they are still there?

In this article, it mentions Eurostar most likely wanting to sell them on at below their estimated value, purely because they cant be used for anything.

Yes they are still there. They have either recently been offered for sale, or are about to be.

Let me guess the harebrained scheme to power a emu at oakhampton by duracell batteries having failed. The second plan is for it to be powered by a totally incompatible generator coach.

They are in 2 tone grey and are dumped around the back of area 51 where they have been for a number of years.

Also they have been up for sale for a number of years, they are equiped with 3 phase electrical supply so not compatable with mk1/mk3/mk3 ETS supply!

If you were going to have a genny car you're better off with a mk2 coach conversion 63ft as opposed to 75ft!

The only place these are going is to the scrappy with gennies being reused in the industrial sector!

u think that E* are gonna have t get rid of them before they move to temple mills and the only people who would have possible purchased them are currently circling the drain *IF* rumours are to be believed

other than FM Rail.. maybe the ACLG could use one for powering equitment on their fleet at barrow hill...

Incompatible to a type 42 destroyer maybe, but to others, it produces electricity and lots of it.
Alot of people still use generator coaches for railtours, sleepers and engineers trains
