Just seen there are a few Sleeper diversions coming up over the next couple of months, as follows:

Sun 8 April: all four Sleepers diverted via East Coast

Sun 22 - Thurs 26 April: up Lowland diverted via Northampton

Sun 6 May: all four Sleepers diverted via East Coast

Mon 14 May: up and down Lowland diverted via West Midlands

Wed 16 & Thurs 17 May: up Lowland diverted via Northampton

Timings should be on opentraintimes.

Wish the ones diverted via the ECML would in fact stop somewhere on route.

They do; at Doncaster and Newcastle though I am guessing this is only for traincrew purposes.

For 8 April 2012:

1S25 (Highland Sleeper Northbound) due at DON a 0008 d 0010, NCL a 0200.5 d 0202.5
1S26 (Lowland Sleeper Northbound) due at DON a 0313.5 d 0315.5, NCL a 0532.5 d 0534.5
1M11 (Lowland Sleeper Southbound) due at NCL a 0120 d 0121, DON a 0345 d 0347
1M16 (Highland Sleeper Southbound) due at NCL a 0306.5 d 0308.5, DON a 0513 d 0515 (Up Fast - presumably PASS)

Thanks - a handy list of days to avoid attempting the shot north of Atherstone when the sun rises early enough in a few weeks! The one and only time I tried it before saw the southbound 350 run parallel with it and bowled my shot! Cheers then!

That's the thing - if it was advertised as an actual stop I might be tempted to do an all-nighter at Doncaster and get the sleeper back.

Shame that it is dark by 8pm as it would be great to see some video action of the Sleeper in the Camden / York Way area as it traverses from North London Line to ECML

If that's the case what will happen to passengers at the 4 intermediate WCML stops? Will buses or extra trains run to get passengers to the respective destination (as PRE-DON can be pulled off and Carlisle-NCL is regular service) or will we see nothing of the sort?

Usually nothing is arranged, it's displayed weeks in advance, so customers will re-arrange their respective journeys to suit their needs.

If engineering work is advertised then tough - they'll have to get a normal Virgin train. If for some reason they are diverted but are booked to run via the WCML, either a hotel will be found or they'll get to their destiantion by taxi/bus or next available train.
