In 2010 the engine was green as Bittern and carried its BR number. For 2011 it was repainted blue and appeared as 4492 Dominion of New Zealand. I understand it has now reverted to Bittern and listed as its BR number 60019, but has it been repainted? Hope this helps (ps have I got the right number of 0's)

Bittern is still blue but has returned to the name of Bittern and currently carries number 4464 http://railways.mjspencer.com/gallery/v/March2012/IMG_3432.jpg.html

I cannot see why they mess around with names and numbers.................in my opinion it detracts from the value of the original loco
If the owner(s) of a steam loco feel inclined to change a locos identity every now and then, then fair play to them I say given that they are the ones providing the financial impetus and enthusiasm to keep these locos running for our viewing pleasure, and it adds a bit of variety for enthusiasts and photographers. Although "Bittern" has suffered from more of an identity crisis than other A4s. At least she's back to her proper identity now, and better a blue A4 than a green one IMO.

It looks like the owners of that Youtube video have now seen sense.

Taken at the recent Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala. Bittern was mobbed so the pictures are less than good

So that people like me who were born in the '80s can get to see a silver A4 or an A4 with authentic stainless steel trim. Come on, please paint one apple green for the lineup next year!

I think it looks so much better without the chrome trim. Looked a bit gaudy, i thought.

(No offence to anyone who may have it as their avatar.)

None taken. It's a rubbish picture taken in a hurry anyway, just I have a policy of only using my own.

I believe part of the reason for Bitterns change was as a fundraising (/PR) excersise with a fair donation to the earthquake relief fund.
