I am predominantly looking for the N-PUT scania's that Arriva own or did own.

they were new to Midland fox and were absorbed into the main arriva fleet upon takeover.

They disappeared from Leicester's roads a short while ago and transferred elsewhere, I was looking at the west midlands bus photo site and I couldn't see their fleet numbers listed. one can only assume they have been withdrawn.

I only ask as I try to track down buses which may be of interest to local Preservationists in my area. I get the info and pass it on and see if there is any interest.

It would be very nice to have one Preserved so that we have at least another ex midland fox vehicle which has survived, not many do survive.

many thanks!

Arriva North East have about ten I think but with the recent new bus deliveries they are receiving they are in the process of being withdrawn so you'll have to be quick ! I know TGM at Harlow used to have some a few years back but not sure if they still do ?

N-PUT Scanias? Not sure I recognise those? If you give more information I *might* be able to help though.

Does N-PUT refer to their registrations? If yes, I can't say I've seen any with those plates. If not, could you provide one?

ok I'll give you a rundown mate,

N- PUT refers to the original registrations of these buses.

they are:

Scania L113CRL Chassis
ELB16710 Body work
B51F seating

New in April 1996 (16 years ago!) to midland fox, original fleet number was 2175.

Their Arriva fleet numbers are as follows.

34 prefix, whatever there original MF fleet number was, the last two digits make up part of the new one,

so for N175 PUT it is 3475 for N168 PUT it is 3468

Hope this helps :)

Last reports from enthusiast groups up here in the north east have them all withdrawn and in store at Bishop Auckland by mid march.
No idea who best to get in touch with, perhaps somebody like the united enthusiasts club may still have useful contacts within Arriva NE?
If I can get any more info i'll let you know.

If anyone's good at bus hunting, I'd like to know where six members of the Arriva TrawsCambria Optare Tempo fleet (including YJ55BJE) have got to. Similarly, I'd be interested to know if anyone's seen any of the new buses that were ordered for the TrawsCymru TC1 service, which was supposed to start on April 1st I think, but was scuppered by Arriva.

Had a look for the NxxxPUT buses and although I know Arriva Southend depot had a couple buses with same bodywork through a few months ago on route to scrap but cannot remember plates. Pictures were taken although obviously I can't find them despite looking for an hour last night  .

YJ55BJE/F/K owned by Ceredigion CC, started with First but moved to Arriva with contract. YJ55BJF was fire damaged (and presumably canniballised and scrapped. Pic1 and Pic2). YJ55BFK passed to Richards of Cardigan with the contract for the Synod Inn to Cardigan section of Service 550.

Hope some of that helps anyway :) .

Yeah, that much I know. YJ55BJK, and the other two Richards Bros Optare Tempos (YJ55BKE and YJ55BKF - even nicer buses) are still in service. However, Arriva replaced their entire Ceredigion CC / WAG fleet of TrawsCambria Optare Tempo buses (YJ55BJE being just one of them, 11 in total I think) with Wright Pulsars (and two coaches) in Feb this year. The eleven council/WAG owned Tempos with Arriva were all parked up in Arriva's Aberystwyth depot for a few weeks, but then 6 disapeared leaving just 5 parked at Arriva's depot. I'd like to know where the 6 that vanished are, along with the 6 new buses WAG had ordered to replace some of them before Arriva decided they would replace them with Pulsars.

N250-9 BKK ;)

And sorry to disappoint/embarrass, but a simple check on Google Images gave me the answer within a few seconds (I knew it anyway, but still).

In the other thread you said 3379 had a suspension that made it run "like a boat". Its suspension issues were nothing in comparison to these horrid things, especially 3251 (the tell-tale one that had green handlebars and not yellow like the others). Going down Thorpe Bay Station Road above the read wheels on that like was like asking for a smack - without the "asking" bit. It really did hurt!

Ivo, it was not that batch of batch of buses. I know from contacts at the place that a few months ago a few step entrance SD's came through purely on the way to the scrapman (and not for service like the 325x vehicles).

Granted the 325x vehicles have very little suspension, but since the low floor revolution nothing has been as comfortable as before. I always enjoyed that bump on Station Road, sat right at the back ;) .

so the 34xx's are still out there somewhere then...

I dare say some have been made into campbell's soup tins but I think some are still around in storage, got to be, there were a fair few of them.

My bad. I had no idea. But then again, Southend always was the ASC dumping ground ;)

The Scanias I mentioned previously deserve no better than to become Campbell's soup tins! :p

Excellent!

If you can't get one of the Midlands ones, do consider one of the Northumbria ones that would look lovely in original livery :)

maybe, we will see what happens first.

another contingency plan is to look for an M GRY decker.

There are definately a few M GRY still in service, (saw one working just last week) they would be at Durham, Jesmond, Blyth or Ashington depots. Again i'd suggest you act fast- arriva ne are due a batch of new deckers for the 308 in the near future that may well see off the last step entrance survivors!

Some slight corrections. (My memories are a little rusty but the bulk of it should be correct.)

Arriva retained the 2100 series after they took over Midland Fox, and kept it that way for many years. The 2100 series was only renumbered into the 3400 series in 2003 when Arriva Fox County were merged with Arriva Midlands North into the new Arriva Midlands subsidiary. The renumbering took place as there is a clash with Midlands North's 2100 series for step-entranced midibuses, and also that the Scanias can now fit into the 3000 series for full-sized single deckers.

Can I nominate any of 3476/3478/3479/3490 for preservation? They served Nottinghamshire County Council-supported 99 route for many years and were my top choice for travelling into Nottingham. I would love to see one of them survive.

it's all dependent on arriva getting back to me cause they never did. I need to try again.

at the moment there are a few candidates, including some buses on the Confidence fleet one of which is up for sale, I shall contact them tomorrow, as it is an ex midland fox bus.

If you don't already know about it, this site has links to numerous sites with bus fleetlists and/or bus news throughout UK. Some sites are more up to date than others, however.

cheers mate :)

ok according to one of the lists the N-PUT's are mostly or were (since list is 11/11) based at the Stockton depot.

Honestly as a die hard Leicester enthusiast time is running out and one of those N-PUT's needs to be saved. How do I contact the Stockton depot, I rang up the NE number last time got told a callback would happen and nothing did :( that was a month ago now.
