Left a pair of glasses on trains - Is it worth while getting in touch?

Need an e-mail or contact number for Virgin lost property (if it exists).

Realistically do I stand a chance of been re-united with them?

They're not particularly expensive or special, I don't even wear them full time, but it's just the hassle of not having them when needed.

I know the train time and carriage, and even seat they were at.

Thanks

Couldn't hurt. You never know.

08450 008 000 and select option 4.

Bear in mind it's all privatised now so you'll either have to go to the lost property office and pick them up (Probably but not always at the major station at the end of the line the train was travelling to) or will have to pay for them to post it back to you, on top of their reclaim fees. Gon are the days of them putting it on a train back to you.

It's definately worth a try but it depends financialy what they are worth.

If you don't ask you don't get, so there's no harm in asking!

Thanks for that Michael,

and yes Mr. Moo, I am fortunate that I have contacts in London that can collect and bring them to me when coming to do the next Irish Rail tour.

Anyway, that assumes I get them back. Will let ye know!

cheers

I would ask, I left my mobile phone on a Liverpool to Euston train a few years ago and someone handed it in.

I myself, have handed in umbrellas, wallets, glasses and gloves. You might be lucky.

I recently left a library book on a Southeastern 375. As the train pulled out of the platform I realised what I had done and called the office. I went regularly to the lost property office at Cannon St and after about 4 weeks it showed up.

I was impressed at their ability to find it but I wondered where it had got to over the month it was missing.

I've got approx 80% success rate in being reunited with lost items, and it definitely helps if you know the service and where you were sitting.

Left my laptop on Milton Keynes station some time ago, realised when I Was half way to Euston, phoned LM lost property, who contacted MK station, said it had been handed in and said they would hold it for the rest of that day as long as I collected it, otherwise it would have to go into the system!

As a funny aside,in my first panic, I got off at Watford to see if someone there could check. They couldn't get through as all the phones at MK were busy - they were told there was an "incident " at MK station, I thought oh no - my suspicious package! They showed me the local line display, there were trains held up every where!! I was pleased to find out upon my return that it was nothing to do with my laptop, there was someone taken ill instead!

Yes, all lost property gets handed in though I will make every effort to see if its owner is still on the train.

Usually will take it to the most logical place, if I work back to Manchester and the train has come from Liverpool to London then logically when I get back to London the lost property office there may be the best place as its owner has travelled to London.
