Just that question really. I have booked a trip to Brussels for a mate and I, but just had a look at our seat assignments and they don't appear to line up with a window on their seating plan: Carriage 17 seats 23, 24.

I booked through Expedia and don't have the option to change my seats when I log on to the Eurostar website, if I give them a call will I be able to change?

This will be my first trip on Eurostar since I was a 7 in 96 so haven't been on HS1 and I'll be disappointed if I can't see anything!

I've never called them up to change, but my experience is that the ticket office in St Pancras is more than happy to help you switch seats if you ask nicely.

Purely out of interest, why book with Expedia? Is it cheaper through them than direct with Eurostar?

I booked with Expedia just so I could spend my nectar points on a train + hotel booking, you can't spend nectar points in the same way with Eurostar, but it was actually cheaper through them than what Eurostar were charging for the same train/hotel combination.

E* £315.92

Expedia £234.48 (£154.48 with £80 nectar points)

The plan is accurate; you have a full pillar I'm afraid.

Check in early, go to the customer information desk inside the St Pancras terminal ( it's on the right about ¾ the way along ) and as long as the train isn't packed out they can do a seat re-assignment on the spot for you.

Thanks for the replies. Well I did give Eurostar a call and the helpful lady changed the seat assignments to carriage 14, 27 and 28 so I'm a happy chap now.

Ah, cheers, so its a train + hotel. For a moment I thought that you'd found a way of doing a day return trip for less than £69 or whatever it is nowadays.

It is a pain when you end up with a seat without a window, particularly if you've specifically booked a window seat. I had it once on a packed Eurostar and ended up standing fopr most of the way, and also, nearly, on a flight to Vancouver where row 14 on an Airbus 330 has no window. Luckily I managed to find out from a relative who had come over to England about row 14 and so I was able to change it, but I was a bit mifgfed since the airline charged £9 each way for booking your own seat, and when I chose row 14 - just for the hell of it - it was months before the flight and only about 5% of the seats had been allocated.
