Hi there,

I've been invited to a drivers assessment day for Greater Anglia. The letter of invitation says that the structered interview will be held on a seperate day due to the length of the assessments. I'm just wondering whether being smartly suited is to be expected even at the assessment stage. I wouldn't particularly want to stand out as the only one dressed formally. Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Chad.

suited all the way. while ur mingling with the company staff always look your best. its ur medical you dont have to bother too much about.

i always went suited to all of my assessments, and so did all of the other candidates. and well done for getting passed the paper sift. i wanted to apply for that job too. but left it till last minute to realise it was snail mail. gutted.

oh well, let us know how you do. and dont forget to prepare. use the material they sent you and study hard. you will only ever get two chances to fail.

Further to the above remember that it's always a heck of a lot easier to dress down from formal to smart than the other way. If for some reason you are overdressed (not that I think you will be) just taking a tie off and undoing the buttons on a suit jacket and suddenly your no longer formal just smartly dressed.

Many thanks Andyboo for your reply. The suit it will be. My application was completely spur of the moment to be honest, only seeing the advert and applying 2/3 days before the closing date. I'm looking forward to it and will give it my best shot. I'm keeping my hopes and expectations firmly on the ground at this stage though.

Always go looking your best whether it is an assessment or interview presenting oneself well is a must, I too will be suited if I get an invitation to attend.
Good luck to all.

Good question Botswana, I'd just started wondering the same thing. Next question is best way to get to stratford for 9.30 feeling refreshed and ready for the assessments. Maybe an overnight stay locally would be best.

Suit, tie, white shirt and polished shoes, clean shaven too (or very tidy beard) ( and the equivalent for the ladies, except for the beard).

Another tip is that a lot of places tend to "pre-interview" you, for example, when you arrive and are greeted by the receptionist or whoever comes to meet you. Be polite, courteous, make conversation and be happy.

If you don't know the answer to a question, try to work your way to a sensible answer; interviewers want people who can think. Eye contract is critical and if there's more than one interviewer try to address them all.

Good luck and have fun - its a rare opportunity to get to talk about yourself :)

Thanks for all the polite responses. In reply to Shirley, yes my application was for the recent advert that closed on April 10th. Good luck with getting an invite yourself.

Well done to those that have recieved invites to assesment days. Wishing you all the best of luck!

Good to see that we weren't going to be kept waiting months for a response! :)

Just out of interest how far away from our chosen depots are you?

I am 19.3 miles to get the ball rolling!
