Hi all,

As you may be aware - if you aren't, look at my signature or follow this link - I have been progressing with a large amount of creative work over the last while (there are various dates that can be considered the starting point), and it is getting to the point that I want some of it to be thrown out into the public. After all, what is the point in creativity if no-one can appreciate it?

That is why I made my novel thread (linked to above). I wanted others to be able to appreciate my work and gain an understanding of how things are going with it, before it is completed and then released further. It is also one of the good things about being at University, and one such as this in particular (as so many others look to such material here).

However, I feel that it can only go so far without some kind of external support. I cannot draw well. I cannot read music beyond a basic level. I do not understand things that are not literal or concrete (such as poetry). I do not always get my point across concisely. The list goes on.

So, friends, I ask you all this.

It doesn't matter whether you are a skilled artist, a skilled musician, a skilled poet; anything. Those of you who have these qualities that I so crucially lack, would you please be willing to help me? All of these are areas that I need help with if my latest work is to become a reality - a reality that I would hope we can all share.

It doesn't matter how small the help you can provide. If you can help, I sincerely hope that you will, and would be eternally grateful for anything you can do to help...

There is one just little extra I would like to ask however. Please only offer your help if you feel that you and I understand each other sufficiently well to be able to work together. This doesn't mean you must have a set number of posts, or be my friend on the forum - it just means that we can successfully build a working relationship. This also means that I ask you to not ask others you may know elsewhere, for which I apologise.

This is why I have posted this separately to my creativity thread - it has no place there. It is for discussion of work and latest releases, not pleas for help. (I also thought that this might attract more attention.)

Thus, I bring my plea to an end. If anyone would be able and willing to be of assistance to me - I have two such people on here at present - your help would be gratefully received and acknowledged. And if you would rather discuss via PM, please don't hesitate to do so.

I just hope that someone out there will be in a position to respond.

P.s.: As a thank you, I will be happy to provide you with pre-release material :)

Come on guys, just three responses (one of which was entirely private)? That isn't very encouraging :(

Hey Ivo, if it helps I can play a few instruments (drums, guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele) I dont have much in the way of recording equipment but if you can think of any way I can help feel free to say. It would give me an excuse to buy a nice condenser microphone too.

I'm also happy to give you feedback on any of your writing.

Can you define "good with computers"? Does this mean programs or programming?

One of those two (you can probably guess which) might be useful; I can mostly manage by myself but there will be some things I'm not sure about! :p

Programs and hardware. Programming...no chance...not creative enough :P
(Well, not beyond basic HTML anyway)

Wow, that really worked! :)

It has taken a while, but I have now responded to everyone that has posted either here or by PM. Thank you again for your help guys; and if anyone else is able to provide any assistance it would be gratefully received!

EDIT: All communication via PM has been copied into an MS Word file. This way I don't need to worry when I invariably have to delete my PMs again!

It's more a case of "What can you do?". There is no sense in my asking something if the person being asked would struggle...

To be honest with you it would be much better for all concerned if you actually stated what it was you wanted from random members of the public so that the readers of the thread could match up thier skills with what you require.

No point me telling you 'Im good at this that of the other' if you turn round and say 'sorry but thats not what I want' I would be wasting my time.

You want assistance and I think its only fair that you inform people about what assistance you want.

It does mention above the kind of help I need. It's mostly related to the kind of creative arts that I know I struggle with, i.e. art, music, poetry, etc. If any one person is able to help in such a way, e.g. because they might be a talented painter, then the chances are it would help.

But I appreciate the point.

But you still haven't said what you want done. Why do you need a musician, painter or poet? What do they need to do for you?

I'll say this much.

If you aren't sure if you can help, and/or haven't already contacted me (or by me), wait until I announce it properly (which I had planned to do tonight). You will see more then. I will give a little extra now than I had (which those who have [been] contacted will know already) - the primary issue is drawing and colouring, probably using paint or watercolour pencils.

It does specify in the original post that it is related to a project of mine, which dates back to May 5th last year.

Sorry if it's been a problem.

Unfortinatly I don't think I have the skills to help you out.

Although your projects do sound interesting and I will continue to watch progress with interest!

I have been known to be handy with a pencil, I am told I am good with a camera, and i can play the Guitar.
If any of the skills I have listed above would be of any use to you i would be only too happy to help. All the best with your project, from what i read on your creativity thread the writing is going well for you keep up the good work.

Now might be a good time to point out this thread :p

Within the next day or so I will be outlining everything that would probably be necessary. In other words, this is where your help would be needed!

Thank you to everyone that has offered. deltic1989 - a PM should be with you by now (0126).

Right - time for a brief outline of things that need doing.

First off, I will not ask anyone to actually create a full cartoon by themselves. Just one second is a minimum of 20 frames, and I would probably be looking at 24. This is not to say you must not do so though; if you want to try then please do!

Anyway, the main task for me personally is to complete sypnoses for the first season and the movie plot. This is probably in the region of 17,500 words, roughly one-third of which would be for the movie. That aside, the best thing to do is to actually prepare at least a scene, if not a full episode, and this is where your help would come in.

My idea is to start with a short scene from Episode 7, whose details have already been revealed to one person (on the musical side). This is a crucial scene in that it is where the Star Squadron meet the Shadow Squadron for the first time and stage their first battle against their de facto rivals; further, this scene is where Samuel finally learns of his hidden powers (the other four hide from him to transform). I would look to create a storyboard myself, and then suggest that a short scene is created that runs at roughly 3fp2s (three frames every two seconds, or 16 times less than the real thing). This would also need a basic musical arrangement, so it would need writers, players and *possibly* a short lyrical accompaniment. Once this is all brought together it would need voices, which might be a problem considering three of the five are female and there are very few female members on here (not to mention the need for southern accents). I would write the scene myself, and then ask for one person to critically evaluate the writing before production begins.

So that is pretty much what needs to be done. If you feel that you would not be able to help with this, in spite of having said otherwise previously, I would like to thank you for offering anyway; if you are still able to, thank you kindly. But until the storyboard and/or script are ready, we won't be going very far - so the onus is on me to get on with it...!
