I don't wish to scaremonger but I thought I'd make a pre-cautionary post...
This is a serious warning to anyone thinking of visiting Sheffield on Saturday. Some will know the League One football season ends on Saturday afternoon, one of Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United will be promoted in 2nd place, the other will be in the play-offs. Wednesday take on Wycombe at home, with an expected crowd of over 38,000. United face Exeter away from home but plan a beam-back to their ground with possibly 8,000 going to that.
Come 5pm I expect tensions to be a little raised in the City Centre and there is a potential for trouble. Saturday is in a different category of importance for both sets of fans, there will one set of fans rather unhappy, its not a friendly rivalry. I'd just advise a bit of caution and wary of it in the City Centre. Nothing may happen but I don't want to read of people being caught up in something. Also traffic on roads will be gridlocked to the north west of the City from 1 till 3 and 5 till 6:30 ish. Don't use Junction 36 of the M1 at all, the road into the City Centre passes Wednesday's ground.
Cheers
