Hi All.
On Thursday 10th May I'll be travelling from London Euston to Carlisle using the outward portion of an off-peak return (Standard class).
As the past two times I've travelled I seem to manage to pick the train that half of London wants to catch I thought I'd ask if anyone has any experience of which is likely to be the least busiest train to catch for which my ticket would be valid for.

Preferably after Midday!

Thankyou in advance,
Blakey

They will all be busy on a Thursday. Anything 1130 onwards has a small risk of being full and standing. I suggest getting a seat reservation on the 1443, which runs via Birmingham (the slow way) and will be less busy than the rest.

The 17:30, 17:57 and 18:30 are all fairly quiet, as Off-Peak tickets to all stations as far as Preston are not valid on these services, and the 16:30 took the bulk of passengers travelling to Preston (peak) and Glasgow (off-peak). I reckon the 17:30 is the quietest of the lot.

The 16:57 is not so quiet as it is the first service within 1.5 hours for all passengers travelling to Warrington (peak), Wigan (peak), Lancaster (off-peak), Oxenholme (off-peak) and Penrith (off-peak), and also has passengers travelling to Tamworth (peak) and Lichfield (peak).

Really? I know the 19:30 is packed, as is the 15:30, but the last time I travelled on the 1443 from Crewe it was almost full (but not in First Class ;))!
