I'm just about to book a first class trip from Euston to Glasgow and the seat I've been offered is G2.

I've looked at the seating plan and this is one of the few individual seats, but having never gone FC on a Pendolino before, I was wondering if it still has a table, in the same way that East Coast individual seats do?

Ta in advance.

Yes, all the seats have tables. G2 is better than some, at least it has a window!

If you want a different seat, leave that one in your basket and try booking another, identical, journey. Before you check out you get the option to remove journeys so you could always go back to an earlier choice.

If G2 has a table and a window (and the plan says a power socket as well) then that's perfect.

Thanks.

No matter how early/late I book my tickets I always seem to get lumbered with J14 - horrible seat

Usually plenty of room to move though off peak

Just add another booking to the basket to get a different seat and then remove the booking for J14

This thread caught my interest as I'm booking with Virgin Trains for the first time today. Why don't they offer the ability to choose your seat manually online, the way that East Coast Trains do?

Edit: I would have thought a private company would offer more bells and whistles than a nationalised one.

It's just something that the TOCs being very slow to introduce, EC only introduced it in the last year and XC shortly before that. And that it! I suspect it will become more widespread but it doesn't seem to be a priority amongst the TOCs to do so.

When I've booked through Virgin's website you don't get your seat number until after you've bought the tickets

Use the EastCoast site, seat numbers clearly shown and abikity to amend seats to try and 'force' desired seating.

The seat numbers are displayed in the booking confirmation immediately *before* payment. That's the point at which you can either add another booking or remove confirmed bookings.

Why is it called the quiet zone, when I sit in Voyager coach A, seat 44 and all I hear from CMK to Edingburgh is the hooter?

Just booked a journey up to Birmingham and back, I've been allocated seats in coach B.. The only thing is, it's quite near the loo - they don't still smell do they? Been a while since I've been up the west coast.

If you happen to be on an 11-coach Pendo, head for Coach F or U. These are brand new and smell lovely (for now <D)

I always end up with Coach A Seat 25. Which I don't mind, as it ticks all the boxes for me (window seat on the left of the train, aligns with the window properly, quiet coach). I've noticed though that often two people travelling together get allocated Coach B Seats 1 and 3, which are one in front of the other, not sure why.
