It controls Farringdon and St Pancras High Level all the way through to north of Bedford. Cant for the life of me remember the handover point but it's not far from Wellingborough.

St Pancras station itself is now controlled by a WESTCAD installation in West Hampstead PSB rather than by a panel.

The control area also covers some of the Bedford-Bletchley line, although I can't recall how much of it. The changeover point in London (from Victoria Central Box IIRC) is in Snow Hill Tunnel with the last VC signal at the northern end of City Thameslink station. My memory of West Hampstead box is that they had four panels, but this was before St Pancras was rebuilt.

It's all short term anyway, cos it all goes to Three Bridges over the next few years...

Handover point now are

Southbound - West Hampstead control as far as the tunnel, once you come out and climb the hill your under Victoria control.
Northbound - signal at the north end of Farringdon platform

panel 4 sharnbrook to leagrave also to bedford st johns
Panel 3 leagrave to cricklewood
Panel 2 cricklewood to kentish town also to dudding hill and tottenham curve
Panel 1 kentish town to farringdon
West cad kentish town to st pancras high level.

Not quite, panel 2 is Kentish Town - Cricklewood now. West CAD does as far south as Farringdon to Dock Junction north.

I don't how how the slow line is worked between the two boxes, but there's not much signalling on it between Sharnbrook Jn and Wellingborough (possibly just an auto signal in each direction?).

Regards signalling on the single line, in the Up /southbound direction Derby's last two signals are just before the tunnel, as you leave the tunnel you can see West Hampstead's first signal, and two signals further on is Sharnbrook Junction. West Hampstead's last signal on the single line in the Down / northbound direction is just north of the junction, I should know, I've been stuck there several times in the past! After that, Derby's first signal is just south of Wellingborough, after you pass over Wellingborough Viaduct, the next signal is at the north end of the the old 'Down Slow' platform.

;)

Some excellent photos on Flickr - by user "Llangollen Signalman" - of West Hampstead panel and numerous other locations too.

Thanks, that's the sort of thing I had in mind (but didn't have any diagrams to hand). It's not clear from the photos on Flickr what arrangements there are for slots on the single line - I suspect Leicester (as was) give the slot to WH for Down trains?

I think I was on the day those pictures were taken. They are pretty much the same now apart from the adding of the Jowitt sidings.

As for the slot, you are correct IIRC.
