Don't know if this is the correct part of the forum to be putting this, but I was at Glasgow Central on saturday and had a meal from Burger King in the station.

I flashed my (shiny new whole) bite card, but received no discount.

Have burger king stopped accepting bite cards or are they just not accepting them at Glasgow Central?

AFAIK the only station Burger King outlet that doesn't accept them is at Marylebone in London. Could they possibly have missed your card?

Do you mean they actually told you "no you can't use that" or do you mean that they didn't apply the discount (which I assume you'd detect by looking at the receipt)?

Manchester Piccadilly - Five staff went up for coffees, one bite card, 20% off.

They gave the discount, but charged for SIX coffees.

Asking on a forum won't give you as good an answer as asking the people serving.

If its a franchise may depend on the franchisee. I formerly worked for a national chain that was franchised, and we didn't do some offers that were advertised but did others the franchise chose that wasn't nationwide.

I've used my Bite card at Burger King outlets at Manchester Piccadilly, Paddington, Euston, Birmingham New Street and possibly other places too without issue. The £1.42 or so saving on a supersize meal is quite significant!

I suspect it's down to a staff training issue, and to be honest unless you know, there's nowt to say they accept Bite cards in the branches I go to at least.

I've used the traditional paper BITE card at Euston, Manchester Piccadilly, Sheffield and Glasgow Central before with no issues, I think it may be down to either staff training or similar.

 You can eat a Supersize meal? A Medium meal at BK is usually enough to do me for the evening!

Caspian UK Ltd own the Marlybone Branch. They no longer give any discounts out at all, staff don't even get discount.

The only discounts they now give out, is from the vouchers they give out with meals from time to time.

I used to work for the franchise, and they are as tight as they get

I was in a rush for my train and didn't check my change or receipt until I was on my train, bloody queues at the barriers for the football fans after the cup final (and yes, I was one of them lol, supporting my other half's team)

I guess I should have known as they didn't swipe my card, as someone further up has said, it was the first time I'd used the new card

I can eat two a day easily, and did so on occasions when I used to work at Pizza Hut. More often it was only one mind, but I did so at least 3 times, usually 4, a week. Bearing in mind though that I'd usually have such a meal after several hours of not eating, and I mean several like 7 or more.

Just had a read of their terms and conditions, and Glasgow Central does not appear to be "prohiBITEd"...

Someone else getting carried away with find and replace...

It could be if you had a meal deal e.g. burger, fries and a drink and if I remember the bite card discount isn't valid on these. but always worth asking when purchasing if they ahven't given disount

Upper Crust at London Bridge is the only place I have used my new card (platforms 5/6), and had no problem.

Manchester Piccadilly...

SSP Operate the kakky coffee shop upstairs or similarly kak coffee that's overpriced from Upper Crust etc.

Greggs is outside...
Starbucks is round the corner.
Pret is next to Starbucks.
Nero is at the end of Gateway House.
There's another greggs across the road.
Or if you desperately want very poor quality coffee, theres a café on D Floor in the Sackville Street Building.

Apparently the new Bite card also replaces the existing paper loyalty cards, so presumably the more generous staff will no longer be able to double stamp... :(

Got to agree there, a supersize BK is immense, and surely far too much for a normal puny human to consume?! :D

I had a problem with the bite card the other week.

It was a Friday after work and thought that I would pop in for a cheeky can or 2 of Carling in one of the Pumpkin chains, but apparently you can't use the bite card on alcohol......

Now I've had this problem before where some stations will accept the bite card and others won't so sent SSP an email asking for clarification. The clarification I got was as long as the item you are purchasing isn't part of a promotion (i.e. 2 packet of crisps for £1.20) then the Bite card can be used, therefore it can be used on alcohol unless that is on a promotion.

Seeing as SSP allow the discount on alcohol in its pubs, I'd be surprised that there would be such a restriction.

Given that the new cards don't say '20%' on them, I wonder if we'll ever see the discount being variable at different places in the future?

I've always been able to get the 20% off of meal deals. Would be silly for them not to, as it's the most popular thing to get. Unless BITE have changed the rules - could it be that this transition to swipeable cards is so that the retailers can apply discounts selectively, rather than just giving a blanket 20% discount off everything?

I found the 20% off meal deals pretty variable, and I'm pretty sure the card T&C always did say 'not valid with any other offer' - so I just assumed some staff were sticking to the rules and some not.

Going back to the original problem - if the newly installed EPOS systems requires the card to be swiped, a flash of the card as mentioned aint going to work...

The pumpkin cafe in nottingham didnt swipe my new card, but gave me the 'old' discount. I imagine once they install new software or whatever it will be swipe only.
