Hello!

I have a question... When I was looking for difference between price of normal train London Charring Cross - Ashford Int'l and High Speed train London St. Pancras Int'l - Ashford Int'l (and there is no difference) I found one train from St. Pancras for 2h travelling... without changes! I thought that nothing train going on this way, and High Speed can't be!
I click and I can see... First Capital Connect service! :o What?! Since when?! On FCC route map I don't see train to Ashford. Why is that?

Thanks for response and sorry for my english...

Greetings,

It's one of the "joint" FCC/SE services. Technically it changes to Southeastern en route (after Bromley?)

FCC operates 2 services from/1 service to Ashford International in partnership with Southeastern every weekday. They're not high-speed services, and they were extended north of London Blackfriars back in March 2009.

TOC changeover happens at London Blackfriars.

Yes its routed via Blackfriars, Elephant and Castle to Bromley South, Swanley, Otford, Maidstone East and onto Ashford basicly stopping everywhere, hence the journey length.

Haven't checked for a while but the stock (2x377) would spend the weekend (at least Sunday mornings) in the sidings next to the Hastings line SE of Ashford station.

Monday to Friday there are two trains in the evening from Bedford to Rochester and one to Ashford and in the morning there are two from Ashford and one from Rochester. The stock that works the 16:22 Bedford to Rochester works ECS to Victoria and then forms the 20:37 Victoria to Ashford (SE service).

Will this service end now that the remaining platforms at London Blackfriars are opening?

Certainly not; it provides an important connection and is a joint FCC/SE service. Eventually when Thameslink is complete they will (if I remember correctly) go only as far as Luton but then there will also be the all day service from Maidstone East to Welwyn Garden City too.
