So I spotted this little cul-de-sac in Stoke Gifford, about 200 m away from the platforms at Bristol Parkway. Heh, cool coincidence.

Then I noticed that just around the corner there was this... and now I don't think it's a coincidence anymore. :D

On the same small estate there are roads named, Manor Place, County Way, Castle Court, Kings Drive, Saint Way and Star Avenue.

All named after classes of GWR locomotives.

In that case Voyager sticks out, as it's not very Great-Western-y.

Looking at the sale history, this estate seems to have been built around 2001–2 (not long after the Voyagers and Adelantes).

Out of interest I wonder if any of the residents of Adelante Close can pronounce "Adelante" correctly? <D

Yes they were named intentionally with a railway connection, as there was an article in the FGW customer magazine at the time.

I always found this quite interesting, from the moment I first found "Adelante Close" in my map. I should probably go have a look in person.

ironically, there wouldn't have been an Adelante Close for a few years ..

'Til now obviously ;)

Adelante's aren't going to be working anywhere near Bristol Parkway - they are for the services on the Cotswold line I believe as well as some Pad - Oxfords.

But pretty amusing none the less. Yet to find 'Pacer way' on google maps mind

Some of the roads around Cribbs Causeway have aviation themes due to the proximity of Filton's Aircraft factories

There is also the new estates in Hatfield named after former DeHavilland products.

And Swindon has a Brunel Way, near to which you can find Churchward Road, Collett Avenue, Dean Close, Hawksworth Drive and presumably roads named after Gooch and Armstrong, or so I believe. There's also a Gresley Way in Stevenage.

There's a couple with a railway connection in Lincoln, both in industrial areas.

Firstly, there's Ruston Way - named after the engineering firm who built diesel shunting locomotives for a number of years. Secondly, Great Northern Terrace adjacent to the Joint Line into Lincoln Central.

I'm bemused as to why there have bene no comments about whether the houses in Voyager are too small, have smelly toilets and inadequate kitchens...

I was just leaving anyway...

In Retirement.
One of the blocks in Milton Keynes, a bit north of the station and new NR HQ building has roads named on a railway theme.

And more news from the town planning department for New Gresley (there really is a place called Gresley).

New Gresley Town Planning Department Meeting said:
It has been decided that the new estate to the west of the town shall have north-south roads named 'Avenue' and east-west roads named 'Road'. The southernmost shall be 'Caprotti Rd' with an annexe called 'British Caprotti Close. The next-southernmost shall be 'Walschaert's Rd', followed by 'Baker Rd', 'Joy's Rd', 'Stephenson's Rd' (connected to the A4 by 'Stephenson Link Rd') <snip> The avenues shall be 'Timkin Ave', 'Skefko Ave'...
